UMC Soccer Squad Defeats Northern Michigan 1-0 in Thrilling Fashion

(Crookston, Minn.) – Nikki Hammond (Sr, F, Nelson, Minn.) took a pass from Rachel Halligan (Sr, MF, Duluth, Minn.) and scored with 25 seconds remaining in the game as the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMC) defeated Northern Michigan University (NMU) 1-0 in a non-conference women's soccer match today in Marquette, Mich. It is the first victory of the season for the Golden Eagles.

Lexie Gauger (Fr, GK, Green Bay, Wis.) recorded her first career win and shutout. She saved six Wildcat shots.

The Golden Eagles improve their record to 1-1-0. NMU falls to 0-2-0.
UMC returns to action with their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) season opener on Wednesday, September 11 at Bemidji State University (BSU). The match begins at 7 p.m.
