St. Cloud, Minn. – The St. Cloud State University women's basketball team hosted #22 Northern State University in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) action Friday evening in Halenbeck Hall. The Huskies topped the Wolves of Northern State 64-61 in final scoring, putting an end to their nine game winning streak.
 
With the win the Huskies improve to 11-6 overall and 7-6 in the NSIC. Northern State falls to 14-3 overall and 10-3 in conference action.
 
St. Cloud State held Northern State to just 19 points in the first half, owning an 11-point lead at the half (30-19). The Wolves battled back, taking a brief lead at the 8:45 mark (45-44), but the Huskies quickly regained the lead after an offensive rebound and put-back by Emma Konopasek (De Pere, Wis.) followed by a three-pointer by Rachael Moen (Savage).
 
The Wolves sunk three shots from beyond the arc with less than two minutes to play, but it wasn't enough. Sam Price (Eau Claire, Wis.), Lexy Petermann (Fond du Lac, Wis.) and Carley Jeffery (Cambridge, Wis.) each knocked down a free throw to allow the Huskies to hold onto a final three-point lead.
 
Four Huskies scored in double-figures this evening. Rachael Moen led the Huskies with 16 points. Moen knocked down a career-high five three-pointers, grabbed five rebounds, four steals and dished out five assists.
 
Jessica Benson (Grand Meadow) finished with 14 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Sam Price and Lexy Petermann each added 10 points. Price dished out five assists.
 
St. Cloud State shot 43.6% from the field to Northern State's 42.3%.
 
Alison Kusler led the Wolves with 24 points on seven of 14 shooting. Kusler knocked down five shots from beyond the arc.
 
St. Cloud State will return to action tomorrow evening as they host Minnesota State University – Moorhead in a 4 p.m. match-up. The dragons are coming off a 75-70 victory over Minnesota Duluth and enter tomorrow's contest with a 10-7 overall record, 6-7 in the NSIC.
