Hanson led the Golden Bears with 30 kills (3.33 per set) in a pair of wins over No. 5 SMSU and Sioux Falls.  She hit an incredible .652 while not committing a single error in 46 attempts in the two matches.  She also collected eight total blocks (0.89 per set), third on the team.  She finished with 17 kills and an efficient .708 hitting percentage with five blocks at USF and added 13 kills and three blocks while hitting .591 at No. 5 SMSU.  This marks the second time this season Hanson has been named NSIC Offensive Player of the Week (9/29/14).

Rainey again led the NSIC in digs last week as she recorded 45 digs for a 6.43 dig per set average as the Bulldogs went 2-0. She hauled in a season-high 27 digs in UMD’s four-set victory over MSU Moorhead on Saturday afternoon to go with 18 digs in a sweep at Northern State on Friday night.  Rainey did not record a reception error on the weekend while adding four assists. This marks the fourth time this season Rainey has been named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week.

McClintock led the Wildcats to a NSIC best .325 team hitting percentage last week as she averaged an NSIC high 12.60 assists per set in three WSC wins.  She had 44 assists with six kills and six digs in 3-1 win Friday over Winona State and recorded 42 assists with six digs, five kills and one service ace in 3-0 sweep over Upper Iowa Saturday.  This marks the second time this season McClintock has been named NSIC Setter of the Week (10/6/14).

U-Mary begins their final road trip of the season with visits to Minot State, Minnesota State, and Concordia-St. Paul. Minot State won the first match over the Marauders 3-1 in Bismarck to kick off the 2014 NSIC schedule.  U-Mary is 5-6 all time vs. Minot State. Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul both swept the Marauders in straight sets earlier in the season. U-Mary is 0-9all-time  vs. Minnesota State and 0-13 all-time vs. Concordia-St. Paul.

- Tallied eight kills and hit .318 with four block assists for the Golden Eagles in a 3-2 loss to Minot State Saturday in Minot, N.D.
- Had just one error on the match on 22 attempts
- Against U-Mary, tallied eight kills and hit .250 for the match with one solo block and three block assists

- Had two solo blocks and five block assists in a 3-0 win over the University of Mary
- Also tallied four kills against the Marauders
- Added nine kills and hit .583 in a 3-2 loss to Minot State Saturday

- Recorded a total of 50 kills in three games this past week, good for a 4.17 kills per set ratio.
- Took a total of 100 swings this past week while only recording 10 hitting errors.
- Hit a career-best .733 against Dickinson State this past week in a three set sweep.
- Recorded the second-most kills of her career against Minnesota-Crookston (25) and hit an NSIC season-best .365.
- Also hit over .300 against Bemidji State Friday evening (.303) while recording 14 kills.
#2 Emily Byrne (S, 5-7, Sr., Reno, Nev./Damonte Ranch)
- Recorded a season-high 70 assists against Minnesota-Crookston in the Beavers 3-2 victory, 10 more assists than her previous season-high.
- Helped the Beavers hit .316 against Crookston and .432 against Dickinson State.
- Assisted three hitters in recording more than 19 kills against Minnesota-Crookston.
- Became the Minot State all-time assists leader against Concordia-St. Paul earlier this season.

- The Minot State volleyball team is currently in the most successful stretch of their season as they’re in the middle of a three game winning streak and have won four of their last five matches. This past week, the Beavers defeated old Dakota Athletic Conference rival Dickinson State in straight sets, taking a short mid-week break from NSIC action. The Beavers returned to Northern Sun play this past weekend when they defeated the Bemidji State Beavers Friday night, 3-1. Wrapping up the week with an undefeated record, Minot State played Minnesota-Crookston to a thrilling five-set match, ultimately coming out with a victory by taking the final five points of the last set.
- #8 Tarah Dabovich (MH, 6-2, Jr., Phoenix, Ariz./North Canyon) had a very strong week herself as she recorded double-digit kills in the final two matches of the week for the Beavers. While she only finished with seven kills against Dickinson State, Dabovich hit .538 against the Bluehawks, her second-best hitting percentage of the season. In the Beavers’ match against Minnesota-Crookston, the junior middle hitter recorded a career high 19 kills and hit an impressive .486, improving her team-leading hitting percentage to .298.
- #14 Mallory Sall (OH, 6-0, Jr., Port Coquitlam, British Columbia/Riverside Secondary), the third member of Minot State’s “big three” recorded double-digit kills in all three matches this week for the Beavers. Recording 11 and 12 kills in the team’s matches against Dickinson State and Bemidji State respectively, Sall capped off the week with a 25 kill performance against Minnesota-Crookston. The junior outside hitter also recorded six digs while hitting .358 in the match.
- The Beavers have another three-match week this week, beginning with rival University of Mary traveling to the Minot State Dome. This weekend, the Beavers will hit the road to take on nationally ranked Concordia-St. Paul Friday night, and they’ll finish up the road trip with a match against Minnesota State Saturday afternoon.

- Led team with 79 assists (8.78/set) as USF went 1-1 over the weekend
- Posted match-high 46 assists in five-set win over Minnesota State on Friday
- Directed team to a .254 attack percentage in two matches
- Scooped up eight digs in each match to finish with 16 and a 1.78 digs per set average
- Added two block assists and six kills with just one error
#3 Jordan Calef (MB, 6-0, So., Cedar Rapids, Iowa/John F. Kennedy HS)
- Recorded team-best 10 total blocks (1.11/set) over the weekend
- Recorded seven block assists against Minnesota State on Friday night and three more against No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul on Saturday
- Added 13 kills and four service aces to finish with 22 total points
- Also picked up seven digs

Sioux Falls (14-11, 8-7 NSIC) split their matches this weekend and remained in the hunt for a spot in the NSIC/US Bank Tournament. The Cougars took down Minnesota State in five sets behind big nights from Kate Hart and Emily Johnson, who combined for 39 kills. Jordan Calef chipped in with seven block assists as the Cougars turned away 14 MSU attacks and limited them to a .158 attack percentage while USF finished with a .341 hitting mark. The following afternoon, Sioux Falls took the first set from No. 3 Concordia-St. Paul, but the seven-time defending national champion Golden Bears fought back to win 3-1 over USF. The Cougars host current No. 5 Southwest Minnesota State on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Before heading to the road to take on Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State on Friday and Saturday, respectively.

- Brianne Stamer (Hutchinson, Minn.) is ranked second in the NSIC for digs with a total of 396, averaging 5.08 digs per set.
- Erin Ohlemann (Golden Valley, Minn.) is number eight on the NSIC leader board.  She has recorded 759 assists, averaging 9.73 assists per set.
- Kaitlin Doughty (Tomahawk, Wis.) leads the Huskies in kills with 205, averaging 2.63 kills per set.

- Mundt needs 35 kills to reach 1,000 in her career and become the first junior at UIU to hit the milestone

#15 Rachel Polland (OH, 6-1, Sr., Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest HS)
- Senior Rachel Polland put together a phenomenal weekend to lead the Winona State volleyball team to a split against #12 Wayne State and Augustana.
- hit .446 with 28 kills and just three errors combined in the two weekend matches.
- Came up huge to lead the Warriors to victory Saturday at Augustana with a career-high 20-kill effort while hitting a terrific .486 – including a clutch six kills in the decisive fifth set.
- Started the weekend off with eight kills and a very solid .381 hitting percentage.
#8 McKenna Larsen (S, 5-7, Fr., Oconto Falls, Wis. / Oconto Falls HS)
-  recorded double-doubles in both matches and while also being the match assist leader in both as well.
- On Friday, Larsen recorded 48 assists while also racking up 16 digs and hit .455 with five kills and no errors in an all-around terrific performance.
- Followed up with another double-double on Saturday, recording 55 assists and 12 digs as well as six kills and four total blocks to help lead the Warriors to an important five-set victory over the Vikings.
#3 Jamie Cairncross (L, 5-6, So., Eden Prairie, Minn. / Eden Prairie HS)
- recordws 20-plus digs in both matches at Wayne State and Augustana.
- Piled up 27 digs while also contributing seven assists Friday at Wayne State.
- Added 22 more digs Saturday as the Warriors defeated Augustana in five sets.
The Winona State volleyball team recorded a road split last weekend, falling to No. 12 Wayne State before beating Augustana in a tightly-contested five-set marathon.  The Warriors face three matches this week, beginning with a Tuesday matchup at Upper Iowa at 7 p.m. before welcoming Northern State and MSU Moorhead to McCown Gym on Friday and Saturday.  The Warriors currently sit in a tie for fifth place in the conference standings, just one game back of Southwest Minnesota State for fourth.

The 2014 NSIC regular season champion will be determined by the 20-game conference schedule.  The top eight teams will play in the single elimination NSIC/US Bank Volleyball Tournament on November 11, 14-15. Quarterfinals will be hosted on campus by the top four seeds while the semifinals and championship will be hosted by the highest remaining seed following the first round of play.
