Winona, Minn. - Augustana’s Sarah Kennedy blasted a solo walk off home run in the bottom seventh to lift the fourth seeded Vikings to an 8-7 win over fifth seeded Missouri Western State in the nightcap of the NCAA Central Region 1 Tournament played in Winona, Minn. Early in the day, Winona State scored the go ahead run in the fifth inning and held off Southern Arkansas for a 3-2 win in their opening round game. The Vikings and Warriors will now face off on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the region’s winners bracket.
Mankato, Minn. Second-seed Minnesota State surrendered struggled early and failed to comeback late as it dropped a 5-3 decision to seventh-seed Southeastern Oklahoma State in the opening game of the NCAA Central Region 2 Tournament Friday afternoon at the MSU Softball Diamond. With the loss, the Mavericks will play Emporia State Saturday at 12:30 p.m. ESU lost 7-5 to Central Oklahoma in nine innings.
