USTFCCCA Release

NEW ORLEANS, La. -
Minnesota State senior Emmanuel Matadi garnered U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Division II National Athlete of the Week accolades after another record-breaking performance last weekend at the Minnesota State Open.

Matadi (St. Paul, Minn.) broke his own school record twice last weekend in the 60-meter dash. In the preliminary round he ran a time of 6.68 surpassing his old time of 6.73 he set the weekend before at the Holiday Invitational in Lincoln, Neb. In the finals, he crossed the finish line with a time of 6.66 which ranks first in NCAA Division II and 12th across all divisions.

This is the second time a Maverick athlete has won USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week honors as Myles Hunter did so earlier this season.

The Mavericks will continue action this weekend as they compete in the Jack Johnson Classic on Friday and Saturday in Minneapolis.
