NSIC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Seth Reel (Junior, Fort Dodge, Iowa / St. Edmond HS) - Winona State
- Won the Bob Waxlax Invitational by nearly 13 seconds
- Reel’s time of 25:28.9 topped Minnesota Duluth’s Cody Sedbrook’s mark of 25:41.8
- The win marked the first of Reel’s collegiate career
- Reel has been WSU’s top finisher in every event this season
- Led the Warriors to a third place team finish

NSIC Cross Country teams will compete in various meets throughout the fall with the season culminating in Falcon Heights, Minnesota on Saturday, October 24 at the NSIC Cross Country Championships held at Les Bolstad Golf Course.  The NCAA Regional will take place two weeks later on Saturday, November 7 in Joplin, Missouri. The NCAA DII National Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, November 21 at Tom Rutledge CC Course in Joplin, Missouri.

NSIC Men's Cross Country Team Notes
Augustana

- Jonas Gjesdal finished sixth at the Briar Cliff Invitational with a time of 25:33.21
- Gjesdal was the highest freshman to finish at the Brair Cliff
- Augustana men finished 10th at the Briar Cliff Invitational
- The Vikings next compete at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

Concordia-St. Paul
- CSP finished sixth at the Bob Waxlax Invitational at Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
- Caleb Troe set a personal best as he finished 24th with a time of 26:44.2
- The Golden Bears next compete at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

University of Mary
- U-Mary runners finished 1-2 and the Marauders captured second out of eight teams at the Jimmie Invite
- Chris Jessop captured his first race of the season when he posted a time of 25:25 over the 8K course
- Jessop won the Invite by 15 seconds and has paced the Marauders runners in all three meets this season
- Sophomore Kevin Carpenter was second, 15 second behind Jessop
- Steven Gordon grabbed sixth overall and Thomas Neale was eighth
- The Marauders finished just two points behind winner MSU Moorhead 32-34
- U-Mary next competes at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

Minnesota Duluth
- UMD won the Bob Waxlax Invitational for the second straight season
- UMD had six of the top seven finishers in the race
- Cody Sedbrook took second overall with a time of 25:41.8  
- UMD next competes at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

Minnesota State
- MSU finished second at the Bob Waxlax Invitational at Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
- Senior Matthew Longen (26:10) finished ninth as the top Minnesota State individual at the even
- Freshman Steven Erredge (26:11) was right behind Longen in placing tenth
- The Mavericks next compete at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

MSU Moorhead
- Brady Speicher placed third at the Jimmie Invitational and led the Dragons to the team title
- Speicher ran an 8K time of 25:56
- The Dragons edged Mary by two points for the win at the Jimmie Invite
- MSUM went 3-4-5 in the finishing order: Speicher, Josh Young and Joshua Ernst
- Dragons are off until Oct. 24 when they compete at NSIC Championships

Minot State
- Minot State finished in sixth place overall at the Jimmie Invitational
- Joel Cartwright paced the Beavers with a 10th place finish overall
- Cartwright ran the 8K in a time of 26:46
- MSU had two runners in the top 25 in the race as Devon Shumway clocked a 28:01 and was 23 rd overall
- Julio Romero finished third for the Beavers and was 41st overall with a time of 29:24
- Minot State will run in the University of North Dakota Ron Pynn Invitational Saturday in Grand Forks, N.D.

Northern State
- NSU ran in the Jimmie Invitational, their final competition prior to the NSIC Championships
- Hunter Kopff led the way for the NSU men with a time of 28:02.00
- The men finished in fourth overall with 123 team points
- NSU next competes at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

Sioux Falls
- USF recorded their second team win of the season by capturing the Briar Cliff Invite
- USF placed five runners in the top 10, led by senior Ethan Tabbert who was fourth in 25:27.87
- The Cougars also had top 10 placings from two-time NSIC Athlete of the Week Jase Kraft, 7th;
- Freshman Steven Brown was eighth and senior All-American Matthew Horan was ninth
- USF next competes at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

Southwest Minnesota State
- SMSU finished fifth at the Bob Waxlax Invitational at Wapicada Golf Course in Sauk Rapids, Minnesota
- Evan Bonneson was 41st with a time of 27.17.2
- Ben Broze was 42nd with a time of 27:21.4
- Next for SMSU will be the NSIC Cross Country Championships
 
St. Cloud State
- The Huskies hosted the Bob Waxlax Invitational on Friday, Oct. 9.
- SCSU finished fourth in the 8K race and were again led by Chris Caron
- Caron finished 13th overall in a time of 26:19.3
- SCSU next competes at the NSIC Championships on Oct. 24

Wayne State
- The Wildcats placed ninth out of 16 teams with a team score of 268 points at the Briar Cliff Invitational
- Justin Brueggemann was the top Wildcat runner taking 19th out of 196 runners with a time of 26:12 on the 8,000 meter course
- Wayne State’s next meet will be Saturday, October 24th at the NSIC Championships

Winona State
- Junior Seth Reel won the Bob Waxlax Invitational by nearly 13 seconds Friday in Sauk Rapids, Minn.
- Reel’s time of 25:28.9 topped Minnesota Duluth’s Cody Sedbrook’s mark of 25:41.8.
- The Warriors took home third place as a team, behind UMD and Minnesota State. WSU and the Mavericks each finished with 62 points, but MSU earned the tiebreaker
- WSU next competes at the Drews-Neubauer Invitational hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 10:30 a.m. in West Salem, Wisconsin
