NSIC Women’s Co-Field Athletes of the Week:
Kaitlyn Long (Throws, So., Cottage Grove, Wis. / Monona Grove HS) - Winona State

- Won the weight throw at the MSU Chuck Petersen Open in impressive fashion
- Long’s first throw of the competition of 67-6 currently leads all collegians (any division)
- Long’s toss automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championships
- Long was named the USTFCCCA Division II Women’s Field Athlete of the Week

Davina Carr (Pole Vault, Jr., Nine Mile Falls, Wash. / Lakeside (Nine Mile) HS) - University of Mary
- Posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault at Dakota Classic
- Set a school record and won the meet with height of 13-2.25
- Leads all NCAA Division II performers and is third among collegians at all levels

NSIC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week:
Emilee Trost (Mid-Distance, So., Goodhue, Minn.    / Cannon Falls HS) - Minnesota Duluth

- Ran a time of 9:48.7 in the 3000m at The Opener Meet at St.  Scholastica
- Her time broke the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse record, surpassing the old of mark 10:17.16 set by UMD’s Morgan Place in 2012
- Ranks second in the nation in Division II and provisional qualified for the NCAA Championships

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana

Women’s Track
- Leah Seivert finished eighth in the women’s 5000m with a time of 16:36.74 at the Grand Valley State Holiday Open
- Seivert’s time is a school record, breaking the previous mark set by Runa Falch in 2012
- The time also is the third best in Division II and is an NCAA qualifying provisional mark
- Brooke DeVos took first in the women’s 600 meters finishing with a time of 1:36.49
- Irene Almarcha finished third in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 8.79, the time is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark

Bemidji State
- BSU started its 2016 indoor season Dec. 4-5 at The Opener in Duluth, Minnesota
- Bemidji State placed third at the meet with 63 points
Women’s Track
- Nicole Crummy broke the BSU mile run record with a 5:21.39 to take first place in the event by seven seconds at The Opener in Duluth, Minn. Dec. 5
- Crummy’s time trimmed nearly 40 seconds from her previous collegiate-best set last winter
- The 5:21.39 bettered a BSU mark set by Christa Pribula (5:22.73) during the 2004 indoor season
- Crummy was also a member of the Beavers’ 4x400-meter relay team, which took first place in the meet with a time of 4:08.80
Women’s Field
- Emeline Sevila took fifth place in the pentathlon with 3,126 points Dec. 4
- Sevila’s top finish came in the long jump, as she finished third with a leap of 16-07
- Sevila also placed fourth in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.41
- The Beavers return to action when it hosts the Super 8 Open, Jan. 16

Concordia-St. Paul
Women’s Track
- Gloria Williams wrapped up a fourth place finish with a time of 7.86 seconds in the 60m at the Chuck Petersen Open
- Williams finished sixth in the 200m with a time of 26.09 seconds
Women’s Field
- Wakpor Ighovojah finished third in the long jump with a distance of 17-6.25 in the Chuck Petersen Open
- Ighovojah helped the 4x400m relay team to a third place finish with a time of 4:09.13
- Ighovojah put up a seventh place finish in the 60m hurdles with a time of 9.46 seconds as well

University of Mary
Women’s Track
- Tonie-Ann Pandohie won three events at the Dakota Classic
- Pandohie posted two NCAA Division II provisional qualifying marks
- Pandohie won and provo’d in the 60 meter hurdles (8.84 seconds) and the 200 meter dash (25.01 seconds)
- Pandohie tied for first in the 60 meter dash (7.83 seconds)
Women’s Field
- Davina Carr posted an NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the pole vault at Dakota Classic in opening meet of the year
- Carr set a school record and won meet with height of 13-2.25
- Carr leads all NCAA Division II performers and is third among collegians at all levels

Minnesota Duluth
Women’s Track
- Emi Trost ran a time of 9:48.7 in the 3000m at The Opener Meet at St.  Scholastica

Minnesota State
The Minnesota State women’s track and field team opened up its season as it hosted the Chuck Petersen Pre-Season Open
Women’s Track
- Minnesota State took the top three spots in the 60-meter dash as freshman Afure Adah finished in first place (7.75), Gabi Gaines taking second place (7.82), and Briana Holt taking third place (7.86)
Women’s Field
- Faryn Wirkus took first place in the pole vault, notching a personal best of 12-10
- Wirkus’ mark on Saturday qualifies her provisionally for the national meet

MSU Moorhead
- The Dragons sent a partial lineup to Dakota Classic at NDSU on Dec. 4
- The MSUM women recorded three top 3 finishes
Women’s Field
- Caroline Jansen won the triple jump at the Dakota Classic with an effort of 37-3
- The mark is 18th-best in DII so far this season
- MSUM is off until Jan. 16 when it competes at the NDSU Bison Classic in Fargo, North Dakota
 
Minot State
- The Beavers open their indoor season on Jan. 16 at the Bemidji State Super 8 Open

Northern State
- The Northern State University women’s indoor track team posted a solid day from the SDSU Holiday Open
Women’s Track
- Hanneke Oosterwegel nearly qualified for the 60m hurdle finals with a time of 9.37 seconds to open competition
- Oosterwegel followed with a third place finish in the 300m hurdles with a time of 45.41
- Oosterwegel was the top Division II finisher in the event behind Hill of Drake and Foltz of SDSU
Women’s Field
- Breann Jackson led the NSU throwers with a third place finish in the weight throw, and seventh place finish in the shot put
- Jackson’s weight throw mark of 18.30m was just .20m short of her personal best from a season ago
- Jackson was the top Division II finisher in both events
- Gena Burley took eighth in the high jump at 1.55m
- Up next for the Wolves is the SDSU Open, January 22 from Brookings

Southwest Minnesota State
Women’s Track
- Junior Sarah Mayfield finished in fourth place in the 400 meters—the highest Division II finishers—with a time of 58.85 at the SDSU Open
Women’s Field:
- Junior Rylee Armstrong finished in fourth place in the high jump with a mark of 1.60m and then earned a seventh place finish in the triple jump at 11.16m during the SDSU Open

Sioux Falls
- USF opened the season at the MSU-Chuck Petersen Open, winning two events on the women’s side and hitting two provisional marks
Women’s Track
- Jada Carr stole the show for USF, breaking the women’s 60-meter dash record in 7.88 seconds
Women’s Field
  - A sophomore, Carr then hit a provisional qualifying mark for the first time in her career, recording the second-longest long jump mark in school history, a 5.72-meter (18 feet-9.25 inches) leap, which currently ranks sixth in the NCAA and first in the NSIC
 - Kimberly Petersen made it three straight seasons in which she has recorded a provisional qualifying mark in the pole vault, taking third at 12-0.50, which is third in the NSIC and seventh in the NCAA
 - Hannah Steele had a successful start to her senior year, winning the women’s shot put competition and placing eighth in the weight throw
 - Steele’s 42-5.25 toss in the shot put is the current leader in the NSIC
 - USF returns to action at the MSU Alumni Open on Jan. 9 in Mankato, Minnesota

St. Cloud State
Women’s Field
- Patience Yalartai won the long jump at the 2015 South Dakota State Holiday Classic with a leap of 5.72m
- Yalartai took home fourth in the women’s triple jump with her leap of 11:56m

Upper Iowa
- Upper Iowa opens its season on Jan. 9 at the MSU Alumni Open in Mankato, Minnesota

Wayne State
Women’s Track
- Rachel Rauner posted a time of 26.60 to place seventh overall in the 200 meter dash in her first collegiate race at the SDSU Holiday Open
- Rauner also turned in a time of 8.06 seconds in the 60 meter dash, which placed her 12th overall
Women’s Field:
- Kyndra Sturm placed 7th overall in the weight throw at the SDSU Holiday Open with an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 54-0.5
- Sturm mark places her fourth on the current NSIC rankings

Winona State
Women’s Track
- Megan Seidl won the 200m and led off the winning 4x400 at the MSU Chuck Petersen Open
- Seidl’s 200m time is currently eighth in Division II and the Winona State 4x400 team is currently ranked ninth
Women’s Field:
- Kaitlyn Long won the weight throw at the MSU Chuck Petersen Open in impressive fashion
- Long’s first throw of the competition of 67-6 is currently leading all collegians (any division)
- Long’s toss automatically qualified her for the NCAA Championships
- Long was named the USTFCCCA Division II Women’s Field Athlete of the Week
- The Warriors are idle until  they compete in the Saint Mary’s Opener on January 16 in Winona
