NSIC Men’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week

Teigen won both the triple jump and the long jump at the Marauder Open. He opened his final home meet with a top mark of 23’ 4.75” in the long jump and posted an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 48’ 10” to win the triple jump. He ranks second in the NSIC in the triple jump and 11th nationally while he is third in the NSIC in the long jump.

Hanson won the 110-meter hurdles at the Red Raider Open hosted by Northwestern College with a time of 14.31.  His time tops the NSIC this season and is an NCAA provisional mark.  Hanson, who earned his second NSIC Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week honor in a row, ranks 14th in Division II in the 110-meter hurdles this season.

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana

Augustana had a strong showing at the Red Raider Open this past weekend in Orange City, Iowa.
Men’s Track: Dylon Van’t Hof competed in the men’s 110-meter hurdles clocking a time of 15.03 to take a fourth-place finish. Van’t Hof took the top mark for the Vikings in the 400-meter hurdles. The freshman from Sioux Center, Iowa clocked a time of 57.96 for a third-place finish.  
Men’s Field: Freshman Mason Ford took the top mark in the men’s high jump with a personal-best clearance of 2.01 meters (6’7”).

Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Field: Colin Goligoski broke the school record in the outdoor decathlon at the Emporia State Multis. He was previously tied for the record with John Pimental. Gologoski finished fifth in the competition thanks in part to a second place mark in the discus and the pole vault. He just missed qualifying provisionally for the national meet by eight points.
CU returns home next week as they host the Holst Invitational on Saturday, April 18th.

University of Mary
Competing at home for the first time since the 2012 NSIC outdoor championships, the Marauders picked up six titles in the 18 events at the Marauder Open.
Men’s Field: Aaron Teigen (Sr., Rugby, N.D.) won both the triple jump and the long jump at the Marauder Open.  For the second straight week he has won both and the third straight win in the triple jump. He opened his final home meet with a top mark of 23’ 4.75” in the long jump and posted an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 48’ 10” to win the triple jump. He ranks second in the NSIC in the triple jump and 11th nationally while he is third in the NSIC in the long jump.  
Travis Gavin placed first in the shot put and second in the discus with an NCAA provisional qualifying distance. Also picking up wins were Dustin Rueb in the high jump and Steven Gordon in the 3,000.
Men’s Track: Jordan Washington won the 400m dash.

Minnesota Duluth
Nick Moran took first place in the hammer throw at Saturday’s Hamline University Invitational in St. Paul, Minn., and highlighted a number of strong performances for the University of Minnesota Duluth in its second meet of the young 2015 outdoor season.
Men’s Track: Senior captain Phil d’Entremont  was fourth in the 800-meter run  with a time of 1:54.48, which is the fastest 800m run by at NSIC athlete this spring.
Men’s Field: Nick Moran (Sr., Monticello, Minn.) bested a field of 44 competitors in the hammer throw with a NCAA Division II provisional-qualifying toss of 55.65 meters, the top mark in the NSIC this season.   

Minnesota State
MSU saw success run rampant in St. Peter, Minn. on Saturday.  Freshman Austin Pasch gained the first Maverick victory in the 800-meters with a final time of 1:56.20.  Justin McMurty would see the same success in the 400-meter hurdles with his final time of 56.54.  Senior David Pearcill scored a win of his own in the triple jump with his effort of 47’4.5”.  Bryan Caffin notched his first win of the season in the shot put with his toss of 47’11.75”.  Teammate Sam Udermann followed up with the win in the discus at 150’.  Rounding out the meet was Samuel McKay capturing the javelin title with a toss of 188’4”.   
Men’s Field: Nathan Hancock (Sr., Independence, Mo.) finished third at the Emporia State Multis.  He finished with 6,664 total points powered behind a pair of new personal-records.  In the 100 meters, he cruised to a final time of 10.98.  Hancock wrapped up the meet with his second PR in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:43.85.

MSU Moorhead
Men’s Track: Kenny Andri (Sr., Roseville, Calif./Del Oro HS) won the 400-meter dash in 49.85 at the NSU Open on Saturday. That time is fifth-best in the NSIC this season.
Men’s Field: Beau Scheving (Sr., East Grand Forks, Minn./East Grand Forks HS), at the NSU Open on Saturday in Aberdeen, S.D., won the men’s shot put at 48-6 3/4, which is the fifth-best throw in the NSIC this season.

Minot State
Minot State University finished with 10 personal bests and 13 season bests at the University of Mary Marauder Open Sunday.
Men’s Track: Tyler Flatland (Hurdles, 6-0, Sr., Watford City, N.D. / Watford City) won the men’s 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.96 seconds to earn his third title in three outdoor meets this season.
Men’s Field: Phillip Streccius (Sr., Minot, N.D. / Minot HS) won the javelin for his first individual title of the season. He finished with a toss of 190’3”, edging out teammate Cody Schmidt (Jr., Stanley, N.D. / Stanley HS).
Minot State will split into two groups this weekend as a group will travel to the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif., Thursday-Saturday, and a second team will travel to Dickinson, N.D., for the Dickinson State Blue Hawk Games Saturday.

Northern State
Northern State hosted the NSU Invite this past weekend. James White and Adam Leach led the men with first place finishes in the pole vault and 1500m and 800m races respectively. Next up for the Wolves is the Sioux City Relays next Friday and Saturday, April 17th and 18th.
Men’s Track: Adam Leach dominated the competition in the distance races for the Wolves, capturing the top spot in both the 1500m (4:23.99) and the 800m (2:00.23).  
Men’s Field: James White got the NSU men’s team rolling with a first place finish in the pole vault, clearing 3.96m.

Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track: Dallin Finley (So., Kennesaw, Ga., / Kennesaw Mountain HS) won the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.8 at the Red Raider Open hosted by Northwestern College (Iowa) on Saturday. Finley was also a member of SMSU’s 4x100 relay team that captured second place with a time of 43.73. He was also on SMSU’s 4x400 relay team that finished second with a time of 3:26.29.
Men’s Field: Alex Weis (So., Luverne, Minn. / Luverne HS) placed second in the hammer throw recording a throw of 48.10m at the Red Raider Open on Saturday. He was also fifth in the discus with a toss of 46.43m and was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 14.33m.

Sioux Falls
At the Red Raider Open, Sioux Falls recorded three event wins. In true USF fashion, the Cougars swept the men’s pole vault on Friday, and doubled up on sweeps with two victories in the men’s hammer throw. Ethan Tabbert capped the night off with a win in the men’s 10k then notched his second win with a victory in the men’s 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday.
Men’s Track: Ethan Tabbert (Jr., Sioux Falls, S.D./Roosevelt HS) won two events at the Red Raider Open as he took the 10,000-meter title with a 31:25.67. He also earned his first 3,000-meter steeplechase title with a 10:06.63 winning time.
Men’s Field: Jordon Bents (Sr., Worthington, Minn./Worthington HS) recorded two top-two finishes, winning the men’s hammer throw with a mark of 52.94 meters (173’8”) and placed second in the men’s shot put with a toss of 15.92 meters (52’2.75”), just shy of a provisional mark.
The Cougars will send three distance runners to the Mt. SAC Relays and the rest of their squad to the Kansas Relays with both competitions taking place on April 16-18.      

St. Cloud State
St. Cloud State had a solid outing at the Hamline Invitational held Saturday, April 11 in St. Paul.
Men’s Track: Top finishes included a fourth place finish in the 400 meters by JoVonte Suber in a time of 48.60. Isaiah Pitchford placed fifth in the 200 meter dash in 22.46.
Men’s Field: Keyshawn Davis claimed first place in the long jump with a mark of 23-07.25. Marcus Welk went 15-01.00 to capture first in the pole vault. Ryan Johnson finished the day with three top four finishes. He was second in the hammer throw with a mark of 181-07, third in the discus with a toss of 160-09 and fourth in the shot put with a mark of 50-10.00. Quinn Anderson placed fifth in the discus with a throw of 158-11.  

Wayne State
Men’s Track: Braxton Adams (Fr., Omaha, Neb.) raced to a win in the 100m dash in a season best mark of 10.73 seconds at the Concordia Invite.  He also ran the second leg on the 4x100 meter relay that placed second in a season best time of 42.03, which is second in the NSIC.
Men’s Field: Derek Lahm  (So., Columbus, Neb.) jumped to a personal best mark of 23’ 7 1/4” in the long jump at the Concordia Invite, which was good for third place in a very tough field of jumpers.  The mark was just an inch off the NCAA provisional qualifying mark, and ties him for first place in the event in the NSIC Rankings.  Lahm also placed 6th in the javelin throw with a best mark of 159’ 4”.
