BURNSVILLE, Minn. -- Augustana earned the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) / US Bank All-Sports Award for the third time in the past five years. The Vikings amassed 184 points, 7.5 points ahead of second place and two-time defending champions of Minnesota State. This marks the third time that Augustana has earned the all-sports award (2010-11, 2011-12 & 2014-15) as it joins Minnesota State, Winona State and Minnesota Duluth as the only other schools to win the award in its 16-year history. The Vikings will be presented their award on Wednesday, July 15 at the NSIC Hall of Fame Banquet in Burnsville, Minn.

Augustana won six regular-season titles during the 2014-15 academic year, including men’s and women’s cross country, women’s golf, softball, tennis and a share of men’s basketball. Minnesota State had another solid year, scoring 176.5 points to finish second after winning four regular season titles. The Mavericks took home the hardware in men’s golf, men’s indoor & outdoor track & field, women’s soccer and a share of the football title.

Winona State finished in third place with 125.5 points, while Minnesota Duluth was fourth with 125 points after winning the volleyball and a share of the football championship. St. Cloud State was fifth with 121 points thanks in part to championships in wrestling and baseball.  The Huskies wrestlers took home the NCAA Division II National Championship as well this season.

The NSIC/US Bank All Sports Award is calculated by awarding the winner of each conference-sponsored championship points totaling the number of teams in that sport plus one. The next place finisher receives points totaling the number of teams less the number of places from first place. Ties in the standings at any level result in the totaling of points and equal distribution. Indoor and outdoor track & field are computed at half the total points as listed in the previous mentioned categories.
