NSIC Men’s Cross Country Athlete of the Week
Jase Kraft (Sophomore, Wessington Springs, S.D. / Wessington Springs HS) - Sioux Falls
- Kraft finished fourth overall among collegiate runners at the
Augustana Twilight
- Kraft helped USF to the team title after finishing second a year ago
- Kraft turned in a time of 19:25.85 in the 4-mile race
- Kraft posted the best time among all NSIC runners
NSIC Men's Cross Country Team Notes
Augustana
- Keegan Carda finished seventh in the 4-mile college division run at the Augustana Twilight
- Carda finished as the 12th fastest runner in both divisions at the twilight
- Carda has a time of 19:31.59
- Augie’s next action will be at the Roy Griak on Sept. 26 in Falcon Heights, Minnesota
Concordia-St. Paul
- CSP opened the 2015 season at the Crown College Invitational
- Caleb Troe finished in fifth place in a field of 40 runners as he finished the 8k race in 28:58.2
- CSP finished in second place in the team standings
- CSP is at the Midwest Open, hosted by UW-Parkside on Sept. 12
University of Mary
- U-Mary was idle last week
- The Marauders open their season on Sept. 11 at the Yellow Jacket Invite in Spearfish, South Dakota
Minnesota Duluth
- The Bulldogs won the team championship at the St. Mary’s University Alumni Open
- UMD posted a team score of 17 as six Bulldogs placed among the meet’s top seven individual finishers
- Sophomore Henry Jessen was the top individual, completing the 4-mile race with a time of 23:19.75
- Freshman Isaac Overmyer was second (23:21.45) in his collegiate debut
- The Bulldogs are now off until Sept. 19 when they’ll compete in the St. Olaf Invitational
Minnesota State
- The Mavericks posted a sixth-place finish at the 4-mile Augustana Twilight Invitational
- Sophomore Michael Hoff, who placed 23rd with a time of 20:19.3, was the top Maverick individual
- Next action for the Mavericks is Sept.19 at the St. Olaf Invitational in Northfield, Minnesota
MSU Moorhead
- MSUM was idle last week
- The Dragons will open their season on Sept. 11 hosting the Randy Smith Twilight in Moorhead, Minnesota
Minot State
- MISU was idle last week
- The Beavers will open their season on Sept. 11 at the Randy Smith Twilight in Moorhead, Minnesota
Northern State
- NSU hosted their annual Roe Granger Alumni race Friday, and for the first year it was ran under the lights
- The Wolves will head to Madison, S.D. next weekend for the Dakota State Herb Blakely Invitational
Sioux Falls
- Captured first ever team title at the 5th annual Augustana Twilight, scoring 56 points
- Sophomore Jase Kraft was fourth overall in the collegiate division, covering the four mile race in 19:25.85
- Next up for the USF will be a road trip to Missouri Southern Stampede in Joplin, Missouri on Sept. 19
Southwest Minnesota State
- The Mustangs posted a 17th place finish at the Augustana Twilight Invitational
- Evan Bonneson led the Mustangs in the four-mile race with a time of 21:00 to finish 70th
- SMSU will compete at the St. Olaf Invite on Sept. 19 in Northfield, Minnesota
St. Cloud State
- SCSU was idle last week
- The Huskies will open their seasons on Friday, Sept. 11 with a trip to the Wisconsin-River Falls Invitational
- Sam Kettenhofen has begun his first season as the head coach of St. Cloud State
Wayne State
- The Wildcats finished 14th at the Augustana Twilight Invitational
- Seniors Justin Brueggemann and Nick Fly placed 36th and 48th respectively out of a field of 266 runners
- Brueggemann ran a time of 20:34 on the four-mile course
- Wayne State will be in action again next Saturday, Sept 12, competing at the Dakota State Invitational in Madison, South Dakota
Winona State
- Seth Reel finished fourth with a time of 23:25.57 at the 4-mile SMU Alumni Open Saturday in Winona
- Nick Couillard crossed the finish line in 15th with teammate Reed Parent finishing 16th
- The Warriors as a team finished third out of five teams in the meet
- Winona State next competes Saturday at the UW-Parkside Midwest Open in Somers, Wisconsin
