NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Week
Frank Veldman (Jumps, Jr., Eagan, Minn. / Eastview HS) - Minnesota State

- Won the high jump with a height of 6-10.75 at the MSU Multi and Open
- The jump is tied for the eighth best jump in NCAA DII this season
- Marks the third best jump in the NSIC this season

NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Week
Kyran Stewart (Sprints, Sr., Camilla, Ga. / Mitchell County HS) - Minnesota State
- Was the top Division II finisher in the 60m dash at the MSU Multi & Open
- Ran the eighth fastest 60-meter dash time this year in the semi-finals with a 6.80
- Provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships

NSIC Team Notes
Augustana

Men’s Track
- Ryan Heuer finished in third in the men’s 60 meter hurdles at the Jim Emmerich Invitational with a time 8.22
- The time matches Heuer’s season best and is an NCAA provisional qualifier
- Khor Kong finished third in the men’s 600 meter dash with a time of 1:22.98
- Keegan Carda finished in sixth in the mile with a time of 4:17.71 a personal best for Carda  

Concordia-St. Paul
Men’s Track
- David Stanley picked up a second place finish in the 400m in the St Thomas Invite
- Stanley finished with a time of 51.46 seconds in the event
 Men’s Field
- Josh Johanson won the high jump at the UST Invite
- Johanson cleared a height of 5’10.75” to claim the top spot

University of Mary
- The Marauders competed Saturday at the Jim Emmerich Invitational, hosted by NCAA Division I South Dakota State
Men’s Track
- Senior Chris Jessop broke his own school record while placing fourth in the 3,000 meter run with a time of 8:34.51.
Men’s Field
- William Kaigler placed second in the triple jump at the Jim Emmerich Invitational
- Kaigler ‘s best effort was an NCAA provisional qualifying distance of 47-3.75
- Kaigler ranks second in the NSIC and 26th nationally
- Senior Dustin Rueb cleared the bar at 1.95 meters to place fourth in the high jump and also took eighth in the long jump
- Freshman Riley Miller led the Marauders efforts in the long jump, taking fifth overall with a distance of 6.69 meters
- Sophomore Beau Nutting placed fourth in the triple jump with a top effort of 13.31 meters
- U-Mary next competes at the Cobber Duals on January 30

Minnesota Duluth
- University of Minnesota Duluth juniors Brian Lee and Jason Lilja, along with the sprint medley relay team, all captured titles at Saturday’s Twin Ports Invitational at the University of Wisconsin-Superior, and did so in record-breaking fashion
Men’s Track
- The 4 x 1,600 relay team of senior Joey Erickson, junior Seth Hare, sophomore Henry Jessen and sophomore Josh Peterson also carved themselves a spot in the UMD record books, clocking in at 18:13.28 to finish second
Men’s Field
-  Brian Lee’s NCAA Division II provisionally qualifying-toss of 58-5.25 in the weight throw eclipsed the previous Bulldog record set by Nick Moran last winter (57-9.50 at the Minnesota Open on Jan. 17)
- Jason Lilja established an all-time Lydia Thering Field House best in the high jump by going 6-6.75
- Lilja also placed first in the long jump  with a leap of 22-0.75
- The Bulldogs will pay a visit to the University of Wisconsin-Stout campus for the Warren Bowlus Open next Friday and Saturday

MInnesota State
Men’s Track
- Kryan Stewart ran the eighth fastest 60-meter dash time this year in the semi-finals with a 6.80 and finished second in the finals
Men’s Field
- Frank Veldman won the high jump with a height of 2.10m (6-10.75) which is tied for the eighth best jump this season

MSU Moorhead
Men’s Track
- Kenny Andri won the 400 meters at the SDSU D2 Open on Friday
- Andri’s winning time was 49.14 and currently is ranked third in the NSIC in that event
Men’s Field
- Kevin Norville won the triple jump at the SDSU D2 Open
- Norville’s effort of 45-0.5 is eighth best in the NSIC so far this season
- MSUM will compete at two meets this week, the Jack Johnson Classic at the University of Minnesota and the Cobber Duals at Concordia College

Minot State
- Minot State finished with two individual champions and added seven individuals who secured personal bests at the South Dakota State DII Open
Men’s Track
- MSU’s team of Tyler Bates, Chiti Nikhuwa, Josh Drew and Farai Madungwe earned a season best 2:35.95 in the 4x400 relay, finishing fifth
Men’s Field:
- Clarence Hardy won the men’s long jump with a personal best jump of 6.50 meters and added a PR in the 200-meters (23.99 seconds, 17th)
- Kaleb Kirby shrugged off early-season rust and worked his way up to the pole vault title, clearing 4.50 meters.
- Farai Madungwe earned his second PR of the season in the long jump, finishing third overall with a leap of 6.38 meters and was fourth in the triple jump at 12.71 meters
- The Beavers will travel to Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota, for the Cobber Duals Saturday

Northern State
- NSU traveled to the SDSU Division II Open last Friday and tallied numerous top ten finishes
- The Wolves recorded 26 total top ten finishes on the day to open 2016 with success
Men’s Track
- Till Olson tallied the top finish for the NSU men over the weekend taking first in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.88
- Olson went on to place fourth in the 300m hurdles at 42.98
- Olson’s 60m hurdle mark was just a second off his personal best set a season ago
- The Northern State track and field teams will continue competition next Saturday from the Concordia-College, Cobber Duals

Southwest Minnesota State
Men’s Track
- Zach Jones finished second in the long jump with a mark of 6.44m at the South Dakota State D2 Open on Friday
- Jones placed third out of 22 runners in the 400m with a personal best time of 50.41
- Jones was a member of SMSU’s 4x400 relay team that finished first out of 13 teams with a time of 3:24.48
Men’s Field
- Alex Weis captured first place out of 16 in the weight throw with a toss of 16.14m at the South Dakota State D2 Open
- Weis also finished second out of 16 in the shot put with toss of 14.78m

Sioux Falls
 - Sioux Falls returned to Mankato, Minn. for the MSU Multi & Open where they won two events and hit three qualifying marks
Men’s Track
- Mason Phillips placed second in the men’s mile at 4:22.96, edged out by less than a half-second in the race
- Teddy Frid finished second with a personal-best 8.40-second run in the 60-meter hurdles
- Matt Horan clocked a 9:00.06 in the men’s 3,000-meter run to finish third
Men’s Field
- Chase Jensen and Tristan Zawadzki both cleared a provisionally-qualifying mark in the men’s pole vault, placing third and fourth with 4.76-meter (15-7.25) marks

St. Cloud State
- St. Cloud State competed at the MSU Open & Multi Events on Friday, Jan. 22, and Saturday, Jan. 23
- The men’s team got event wins in the 400m dash, 200m dash, 4x400 relay and long jump
Men’s Track
- JoVonte Suber won the 400m dash (49.61)
- J.T. Butler picked up a 200m victory (22.21)
- The winning 4x400m relay team was Marcus Welk, JoVonte Suber, Wezley Turner and Isaiah Pitchford (3:22.88)
Men’s Field
- Keyshawn Davis earned the event win in the long jump and improved on his previous NCAA provisional qualifying mark with a jump of 7.11
- It was his third long jump victory of the season for Davis
- David also placed third in the triple jump (13.37)
- SCSU will be competing at the Jack Johnson Invite this weekend on Jan. 29-30 at the University of Minnesota

Wayne State
WSC competed at the MSU Open
Men’s Track
- Justin Brueggemann won the 5000 meter run in a personal best time of 15:39.36 at the MSU Open
- Bureggemann’s time currently ranks 3rd in the NSIC in the event
Men’s Field
- Josh Spenner was the top collegiate finisher in the MSU Multi Heptathlon with an NCAA provisional score of 4,707 points
- Spenner currently ranks 16th in the NCAA and is the top NSIC mark this season
- Spenner’s best finish in the seven event competition was in the pole vault where he had the best mark with a vault of 14-11
- Spenner’s mark is the fifth best mark in that event in the NSIC
- The Wildcats will host the Wildcat Open on Saturday, Jan. 30 with field events starting at 11:00 am and running events at 1:00 p.m.
- Teams competing will include:  Augustana University, University of Sioux Falls, and Upper Iowa University
