NSIC Offensive Player of the Year
#2 Trey Heid

Augustana University

- The sixth player in NSIC history to earn NSIC Offensive Player of the Year honors twice in a career
- First player to earn NSIC Offensive Player of the Year honors in back-to-back seasons since Minnesota Duluth's Isaac Odim in 2009 and 2010
- Led the NSIC and set an Augustana single season record with 3,582 passing yards in 2016
- Led the NSIC and ranked second in the country with 41 touchdown passes on the season
- Led Augustana with 721 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns
- Led the NSIC and the country averaging 391.2 yards of total offense per game
- Passed for 250-plus yards in all 11 games in 2016 while throwing two or more touchdown passes in all 11 games
- Threw for 300-plus yards in a game six times and tossed four or more touchdown passes in 7 of 11 games
- Finished his career as the NSIC's all-time career leader in total offense with 13,019 yards in 43 career games

- Third-year starter and team captain
-Spearheaded a defense that was the NSIC's toughest against the rush (92.6 yards per game)
- Led NSIC in tackles for loss with 17.0 for 88 yards lost
- Second in the NSIC this season with 11 sacks
- Leads UMD with a career-high 75 total tackles (30 more than the next closest Bulldog) this season
- Ranks third among all NCAA linebackers in sacks with a personal best 11.0
- Has appeared in all 50 games over the last four seasons, including the last 36 in starting role

NSIC Offensive Newcomer of the Year
#28 Max Simmons
RB, 5-10, 175, Fr., Bloomington, Minn. / Kennedy HS
Southwest Minnesota State University

- Rushed for 913 yards and 18 touchdowns on 178 carries
- Recorded six 100-yard rushing games
- The 18 rushing touchdowns during the regular season ranks first among freshmen in all four divisions of NCAA
-Finished the regular season ranking fifth in Division II in rushing touchdowns, 10th in scoring and 18th in total points
-His 18 rushing touchdowns ranks second highest in school single-season history
-Twice tied the SMSU single-game rushing touchdown record with four
-Scored two or more touchdowns in five games
-Rushed for a season-high 162 yards and four touchdowns versus Winona State
-Simmons did not play in week one and had just one carry in week two
-Simmons ranked fourth on SMSU with 37 receptions for 210 yards
-He also threw a 46-yard touchdown pass in a win versus Upper Iowa
-Tied for fifth in the SMSU single-season record book with 108 points

NSIC Defensive Newcomer of the Year

- Recorded 33 tackles, including 21 solo stops, three sacks, 5.5 TFLs and two interceptions
- Led team with eight pass breakups and also had a blocked kick
- Registered sacks against Minot State, SMSU and Winona State
- Recorded at least four tackles four times
- Part of defense that ranked second in total defense (358.5 ypg), second in scoring defense (18.8), second in rushing defense (112.4 pg), and allowed 45 total points in final four games

- Led USF to first NSIC Regular Season Title in any sport with 11-0 record
- Directed USF to consecutive DII playoffs appearances and three straight postseason appearances in just five years at DII

- Owns a 64-16 record at USF and is 90-23 overall with 51 DII wins
