BEMIDJI, Minn. (Chet Anderson Statdium) -- Trailing 1-0 after 45 minutes of play, the Bemidji State University soccer team used three goals in the first 19 minutes of the second half to punch its ticket to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament semifinal round. The Beavers defeated St. Cloud State University, 3-1.
Dani Nelson got the Beavers going in the 59th minute netting her third goal in the Beavers' last four matches. Less than four minutes later Sarah Stram picked the pocked of a Husky player and dribbled the ball down the field on her own, beating the SCSU goalkeeper, Julia Clifford in the 63rd minute for her fifth goal of 2016. Stram again figured in on the scoring in the 65th minute finding Rachael Norton with a crossing pass. Despite getting a hand on the ball, Clifford could not stop it and Norton's attempt trickled across the line for her career-high eighth goal of the season.
The Beavers now 14-4-1 overall will battle Minnesota State University, Mankato in the semifinal at noon Friday at Herb Parker Stadium in Minot, N.D.
