NSIC Athletes of the Week

NSIC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Emi Trost (Jr., Goodhue, Minn. / Cannon Falls HS)
Minnesota Duluth
- Ran a program-best 9:34.09 in the 3,000-meter run at the Opener hosted by St. Scholastica
- The time eclipsed the Burns Wellness Fieldhouse record of 9:48.7 (which she set one year ago)
- Set UMD record by nearly seven seconds, besting the previous mark of 9:40.94 set Jan. 25, 2015 by Samantha Rivard
- Automatically qualified for the NCAA National Championships NSIC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Kaitlyn Long (Jr., Cottage Grove, Wis. / Monona Grove HS)
Winona State
- Won the weight throw and finished second in the shot put at the Chuck Peterson Open
- Weight throw of 21.71m was the longest in all of the NCAA this year
- Automatically qualifies for the NCAA Indoor Championships with her throw
- Her mark in the shot was good enough for a NCAA provisional mark

- Carina Hofmeister broke her own school record she had set last season - Hofmeister finished fourth and ran to a time of 25.14 which was a tenth faster than her previous record - Olivia Montez Brown took first in the pentathlon with 3641 points. With Montez Brown's mark she hit the NCAA provisional mark for the pentathlon - Morgan Rothschadl raced to a first place finish in the 300 meter hurdles with a time of 46.20 - Cortney Dowling finished second in the 400 meters finishing with a time of 57.77

- Alexandria Coleman, a transfer, earned a pentathlon victory in her BSU debut, collecting 2,948 points and finishing as one of the top two competitors in all five events. Christa Benson also competed in the pentagon, winning the 800-meter run and finishing fourth with 2,555 - Vanessa Rae Lopez came within seconds of a BSU record in the mile run in her BSU debut. She finished third with a time of 5:25.2 - Freshman thrower Savanah Olson finished second in the shot put in her collegiate debut, stretching the tape to 42-00.75. She was also 12th in the weight throw (37-06.50)

- The Bemidji State track and field team opened its indoor season Dec. 2-3 competing in the College of St. Scholastic “The Opener” events

- All-American junior Tonie-Ann Pandohie posted two NCAA provisional qualifying times in the opening meet of the year at the Dakota Classic. She won the 200 meter dash in a time of 25.23 seconds and ranks seconds in the NSIC and third nationally. She was second in the 60 meter hurdles with a mark of 8.70 seconds and ranks fourth nationally and second in the NSIC - So. Maria Bolibruch won the 60 meter hurdles in 8.66 seconds, an NCAA provisional qualifying time. She ranks second in the nation and in the NSIC - Making her collegiate debut, Tanesha Davis placed second in the 60 meter dash (7.76 seconds) and third in the 200 meter dash (26.13 seconds) - So. Kylie Pastian posted a career-best effort in the long jump and placed fourth (5.49 meters)

- Emi Trost, punched her ticket to this March's NCAA II indoor nationals with a program-best 9:34.09 clocking in the 3,000-meter run - Sophomore Danielle Kohlwey broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles by a .01 seconds by finishing in 8.66 - Kohlwey (in the 60-meter hurdles), junior Erica Kesseh, who was first in the 60-meter dash (26.05) and senior Breanna Colbenson, who was second to Trost in the 3,000-meter race (9:45.31), all posted NCAA II provisional qualifying times

- UMD had nine individual titles, three school records, one automatic NCAA Division II Championship qualifier and three more provisional qualifiers

-  Freshman Caitlin Himes broke the Peacock mark in the shot put, while freshman Kenzie Soeken set a new school record in the triple jump - Himes broke the shot put record by 7.25' with a throw of 39'-5" (12.01m), set in 2002. The Tipton, Iowa native finished 8th in the event, one spot ahead of teammate Brinn Grunder, who finished with a throw of 38'-7" (11.76m). Shay Lierman placed 17th with a throw of 34'-0" (10.36m), and also placed 13th in the 800 meter run, with a time of 2:41.09 - Soeken shattered the 23-year old Upper Iowa triple jump record by nearly two feet, with a jump of 33'-4.75", set in 1993. The Ely, Iowa product finished 13th overall on Saturday - Freshman Kortney Lightfoot finished 8th in the 60 meter hurdles with a time of 10.46 seconds. Josie Breitsprecher (1:59.98) finished fifth in the 600 meter, one spot ahead of teammate Gabbie Mohs (2:02.64)

- The Upper Iowa track & field program set school records at the Chuck Peterson Open in Mankato, Minn. on Saturday - The Chuck Peterson Open was the first event of the season for the Peacocks, who are returning for their second year of track & field after a 12-year hiatus
