NSIC Volleyball Players of the Week 

NSIC Offensive Player of the Week
#14 Bailey Koch (Sr., RS/MB, 6-0, Litchfield, Minn. / Litchfield HS)
Augustana

- Hit .460 on the week with 24 kills (3.43 kps), one error on 50 swings in wins over UMD & SCSU
- Had 10 kills and hit .400% to go along with four blocks versus UMD
- Had 14 kills and hit .520% to go along with four blocks versus SCSU
- Added eight blocks and three digs

NSIC Defensive Player of the Week
#1 Janelle Lam (Sr., L, 5-6, Apple Valley, Minn./Apple Valley HS)
Sioux Falls

- Recorded her 1,000th career dig after picking up 40 for the weekend
- Finished with 18 digs in USF's sweep of Bemidji State on Friday
- Posted 22 digs against Minnesota Crookston, eclipsing the 1,000-dig threshold in her final collegiate match
- Averaged 5.71 digs per set on the weekend
- Led USF defense which held its opponents to a .143 combined attack percentage
- Finished her career with 1,004 digs, which ranks second all-time in USF's Division II era
- Completed season by picking up 10 or more digs in all 25 matches
- Lam's 22-dig night against UMC was her sixth 20-plus dig match of the season

- Named NSIC Defensive Player of the Week for second time this season (9/5/17)

- Averaged 11.3 assists/set (68 total) and 3.3 digs (20 total) over two road sweeps
- Chipped in 18 kills and two service aces
- Posted her third triple-double of the year at Moorhead w/ 10 kills, 33 assists and 14 digs
- Ranks sixth in the NSIC in assists/set (10.53) and seventh in service aces (0.34)
- Named NSIC Setter of the Week for second time this season (10/30/17)

- Augustana has qualified for the NSIC Tournament for the third consecutive season and is the sixth seed in 2017
- The Vikings picked up their second top-10 of the season over the weekend with the win over No. 6 Minnesota Duluth
- Five different players had double digit kills for Augustana over the weekend
- The Vikings shined defensively, allowing Duluth to hit just .112 and St. Cloud State to hit .090

- Senior Bailey Koch recorded 24 total kills and eight blocks over the weekend while hitting .400 on Friday and .520 on Saturday
- Senior Ashley Wilson tabbed 11 kills on Friday while hitting .391 to go along with seven blocks. On Saturday She had eight kills and two blocks while hitting .571
- Senior Tahlyr Banks had 20 digs on Friday and added 18 on Saturday

- The Golden Bears closed out the regular season on an 11 match winning streak to help grab the top spot in the NSIC Tournament
- CSP hit an impressive .401 for the weekend while holding their opponents to .135 in the two matches
- Concordia guaranteed home court advantage in the conference tournament and will take on #22 Wayne State in the opening round

- Shelby Seurer tallied 18 kills (3.00 per set) while committing just two errors to finish with an efficient .593 hitting percentage to go along with five blocks (0.83 per set)
- Tori Hanson paced the squad with 25 digs (4.17 per set) while helping the defense hold opponents to a .135 hitting percentage

- The Marauders completed the season with four conference wins for the second straight season
- The Marauders bid farewell to four seniors: Lauren Randall, Katelyn Olson, Freddie Campbell and Rachel Comme-Vargas
- Lauren Randall became the Marauders first All-NSIC performer in a decade when she was selected to the 2017 second team.
- Tatiani Santos (2006 and 2007) is the only other UMary player to earn All-NSIC honors. Second the last two seasons in the NSIC in kills/game, Randall finishes her career with 1,345 kills, tops during UMary’s NCAA era
Top Performer(s)
- Lauren Randall finished the season with 14 kills in each of the last two games. The senior had 14 kills and four digs against #1 Concordia-St. Paul and 14 kills and six digs against Minnesota State. The Burnsville, MN, native also had two block assists in each game
- Senior Katelyn Olson posted 29 assists and eight digs against CSP. She closed her career with 39 assists, four kills and nine digs against the Mavericks
- Against the toughest team in the nation, freshman Natalia Cruz registered 13 kills against the Golden Bears. She closed the season with six kills against the Mavericks
- Soph. outside hitter Anna Nietfeld finished the year with eight kills and eight digs against Minnesota State

Team Notes
- Kelci Green fell 23 total blocks shy of Erin Flynn for the all-time lead in total blocks. Green set the record for block assists with nine on Saturday to end her career with 294 block assists, surpassing Flynn
- The Golden Eagles took the second set over Sioux Falls 25-18 and fell just 25-20 in the first set, but were unable to overcome Sioux Falls in the final two sets.
- The Golden Eagle seniors Rachel Freund, Kassi Green, Kelci Green, Kaycie Hagen, Becca Vandenheuvel, Maggie Perrel and Alyssa Muelken ended their careers as Golden Eagles Saturday. All seven players were instrumental in the growth of the program under Sarah Rauen
- Minnesota Crookston is set to return 10 players from the 2017 roster. They have several experienced players returning at key positions. Ali Schueler and Katie Lienemann both return at libero. Alex Oakes and Sydney Kruisselbrink both return at setter, while the Golden Eagles return consistent starters Callie Schapekahm (middle hitter), Kaitlin Sikkink (right side) and Deaira Gresham (outside hitter).
- Kassi Green was named All-NSIC Second Team last week. Green ended the season fifth in the league for kills per set with 3.84 kills per set

- Kassi Green notched eight kills and hit .115 against Southwest Minnesota State
- Becca Vandenheuvel notched 14 digs versus Southwest Minnesota State
- Kelci Green notched 10 kills and nine blocks against Sioux Falls
- Kassi Green had nine kills versus Sioux Falls
- Maggie Perrel tallied 18 digs against Sioux Falls

- UMD split its final two games of the regular season and earned the fourth seed in the NSIC Tournament

- UMD was outhit .201-.238 for the weekend for the first time all season
- This week marked the first time the Bulldogs averaged 17.00 digs per set
- UMD is 8-3 all-time in the NSIC Tournament and 4-1 in the quarterfinal match

- Junior Makenzie Morgen averaged 4.22 digs per set and 3.89 kills per set including career match-highs in kills and digs vs WSC
- Sarah Kelly averaged 4.33 kills per set and hit .333 in the two games. Kelly also set a collegiate personal best 24 kills vs. the Wildcats
- Sophomore setter Emily Torve dished out a career high 65 assists against Wayne State
- Sophomore Abby Thor and senior Allison Olley each led the team with 0.67 blocks per set

- Freshman Micayla Porter led the Mavericks with 63 assists including a match-high and season-best 34 assists against Minot State
- Sophomore Morgan Olson tallied 31 kills to go along with a .451 attack percentage. She posted a season-high 17 kills at Minot State and contributed 14 kills at U-Mary.
- Freshman Mara Quam led the Mavericks on the defensive end with 30 digs

- Junior libero Monica Vega finished sixth in NSIC at 4.95 digs per set.

- Junior libero Monica Vega had 28 digs in two matches
- Sophomore MB Kaylyn Jenkins had nine kills and three blocks

- No. 7 Northern State Wolves went 1-1 in the final week of regular season action, defeating Upper Iowa and falling to No. 15 WSU
- The Wolves hit .302 in the two matches, with 93 kills, 89 assists, 113 digs, 11.0 blocks, and five aces
- NSU hit .387 against the Peacocks notching 18 more kills and digs than UIU
- The Wolves finish the regular season rank third in hitting percentage (.295), fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.184), fifth in assists (13.55), fifth in kills (14.35), and third in digs (17.51) against league opponents
- Northern finished the regular season with a 16-4 league record, in third overall
- NSU will host the first round of the NSIC Tournament on Wednesday, as the No. 18 Augustana Vikings come to town

- Hailey Busch led the team with 32 kills, averaging 5.33 per set
- Laura Snyder and Jenna Reiff led the team hitting .514 and .471 with just two attack errors each
- Ashley Rozell notched 77 assists, averaging 12.83 per set, bring her season average to 11.92 per set
- Holly Vancura and Jaiden Langlie led the defense with 30 and 36 digs respectively

- Three different Cougars finished with hitting percentages over .400 and five Cougars had seven or more kills
- In the season finale, USF held Minnesota Crookston to .103 attack percentage for a four-set win

- Janelle Lam picked up her 1,000th career dig on her Senior Day, and she finished with 40 digs on the weekend
- Averey Yaksich wrapped up her freshman season with a team-high 27 kills over the two-match span
- Bria Barfnecht tied Yaksich with 27 kills on the weekend, including a team-high 18 in the season finale
- Abbey Feyereisen posted 19 kills in the two matches and had 10 total blocks, including a solo block in each match

- The Mustangs hit .419 as a team in their two matches this weekend while holding the Golden Eagles and the Beavers to a combined .121 hitting percentage
- SMSU finished ranked second in the NSIC in team hitting percentage in conference matches only with a .304 attack percentage as a team
- The Mustangs finished first in the conference, holding opponents to .165 hitting in NSIC matches only
- SMSU held its two weekend opponents to just 7.17 kills per set
Top Performer(s)
- Taylor Reiss had 4.83 kills per set over the weekend while hitting .472 including and 18 kill and 13 dig performance against Minnesota Crookston
- Reiss added 2.67 digs per set and had five total blocks in the Mustangs’ two matches
- Megan Larson had 82 total assists (13.67 a/s) while also adding 2.67 digs per set
- Kaylee Burmeister averaged 3.17 k/set while hitting .457 over the weekend

-  St. Cloud State finished the 2017 season with a pair of losses to ranked opponents on the road
- The team ended the season with 16 wins and it was the first time since that the program has finished above .500 since 2004
- The 16 wins are the most since the 2004 team won 19
- It was only the third time since 1998 that the program has won 15 or more matches in a season
- The eight victories in conference play are the most since the 2013 team also won eight
- The two matches this week were the final in the careers of Nicole Miller, Kayla Crane and Becca Gruber
Top Performer(s)
- Abby Templin and Becca Gruber led the team with 14 kills on the week
- Maddy Torve led the program with her 36 assists
- Clara Krenz had a team-high 32 digs
- Krenz ended her season with 628 digs and that is the second-most in a single season in school history
- Krenz also passed the 1,000 dig mark in her career this season and is ranked seventh with 1,075 in her first two years with the program

- The Peacocks, who are receiving votes in the latest AVCA Poll, split a pair of NSIC matches to close the regular season
- Upper Iowa lost a three-set decision at No. 7 Northern State, but then rebounded with a 3-0 sweep over the Dragons of MSU Moorhead
- UIU earned the 7-seed in the NSIC Tournament thanks to their head-to-head win over Wayne State College and their program-record 12 NSIC wins
- The Peacocks finished the season with a 3-8 record against teams in the AVCA Top 25 or receiving votes, but were 18-0 against the rest of their schedule
Top Performer(s)
- Haley Poula (20), Anna Winter (18) and Haley Weepie (17) led a balanced offensive attack as the three sophomores combined for 55 kills in the 6 sets
- Malissa LeClaire dished out 63 assists (10.5/set) and added 17 digs
- Ashley Larson put her hands on 30 digs (5/set), while Weepie added 20 digs
- Lauren Wombles led the team in blocks with 7; the junior middle added 13 kills and a .310 hitting percentage in the two matches
