NSIC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week
Emi Trost
Distance, Jr., Goodhue, Minn. / Cannon Falls HS)
Minnesota Duluth

- Won both the 800m and 1500m run at the Drake Relays
- Trost became the first female competitor to win both events in the 108 year history of the Drake Relays
- Won the 1,500-meters with a time of 4:24.71
- Prevailed in the 800-meter run on Friday in a UMD-record time of 2:05.65
- Her time in the 800 is the fastest time in NCAA DII this season
- Both times were NCAA Automatic qualifying times
- Named NSIC Track Athlete of the Week for the second time this season (4/18/17)

- Placed second collegiately in the hammer throw with a mark of 203-5 at the Drake Relays
- Finished third in the shot put with a mark of 49-9 at Drake
- Marks the sixth time in seven meets she has exceeded the NCAA Automatic qualifying mark in the hammer
- Her mark also exceeded the NCAA provisional mark in the shot put as well
- Named NSIC Field Athlete of the Week for fifth consecutive week

- Kelsey Kaufmann finished third overall in the high jump at the Drake Relays, first out of Division II competition, with a personal best jump of 5-09.25
- Kaufmann's mark ranks fourth in Division II and is the top mark in the NSIC
- Valerie Moos finished in 17th in the 400-meter hurdles at the Drake Relays
- Irene Almarcha took 26th in the 100-meter hurdles at the Drake Relays
- Mackenzie Kelly finished in 1st in the 5,000-meters at the Kip Janvrin Open

Top Performer (s)
- Sophomore multi-event athlete Christa Benson placed second in the 400-meter hurdles at the Drake Alternative Meet in St. Peter, Minn.
- In addition to her personal-best and second-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles, the sophomore teamed up with three other runners to lead the Beavers relay teams
- BSU’s 4x100-meter team clocked a season-best 52.73 to place third while BSU’s 4x400-meter team also turned in third-place finish
- Savannah Olson posted a second-place finish in the shot put, stretching the tape to 41-05.00. In addition, she placed seventh in the discus throw with a mark of 110-00
Team Notes
- The Bemidji State track and field team had a personal-best and five season-best performances among its 11 top seven place winners at the Drake Alternative, April 29
- Christa Benson turned in a personal-best 1:05.85 in the 400-meter hurdles to place second and rank 12th in the NSIC this outdoor season
- Savannah Olson also continued her outstanding freshman campaign placing second in the shot put with a mark of 1-05.00
- Alex Coleman cleared 5-01 to take third in the high jump and establish a new season-best mark
- Marissa Morgenstern, Coleman, Kristen Petron and Benson teamed up to clock a season-best 52.72 in the 4x100-meter relay
- Petron finished sixth in the 400-meter dash in a season-best time of 1:03.13

- Gloria Williams followed up her time of 12.31 seconds in the prelims to cruise past her previous career best with a time of 12.13 in a second place finish in the 100 meter dash
- Her mark broke her own school record of 12.20 set back in 2015. She also registered a win in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.07 seconds
- Marianna Kramer picked up wins in two events at the Drake Alternative. Kramer took home first in the high jump with a height of 5'3.00", just edging teammate Gretchen Feilen in second, and she also won the pole vault with a height of 11'1.75" while Feilen took third

-In addition to the 100m record, the women’s team won six events and finished top-3 in 12 in the Drake Alternative

- Freshmen Nelecia Richards (56.48 seconds) and Nicolyn Brown (57.82 seconds) placed 1-2 in the 400 meter dash at the Al Cassell Relays
-  Freshman Bree Erickson cruised to a win in the 1,500 meter run, checking in 14 seconds ahead of the runner-up with a time of 4:35.78
- Emma Hafdahl claimed victory in the 3,000 meter steeple chase, winning the event by nearly 55 seconds with a mark of 11:23.49
- Emily Wolter ran away with the title in the 5,000 meter run. The sophomore completed the event in 18:51.29, over a minute in front of the closest competitor
- Sr. Jamilee Gordon cleared 11.62 meters on her best effort of the day to win the triple jump. 0ut of her six attempts, Gordon had the five longest jumps recorded in the competition

- Khadiya Hollingsworth finished fourth in the high jump at Drake
- She set a new Minnesota State record clearing 5-9.25 which ties for the fourth best jump in DII this season
- The previous record was 5-9, held by Krystal Burggraff and set in 2005
- Megan Allen finished tenth in the 800m run at with a time of 2:11.28 which is the 28th fastest time in DII this season
- At the Drake Alternative, Autumn Santos won the 100m dash in a time of 12.12

- MSUM’s Distance Medley Relay won at the Drake Relays becoming first Dragon athletes to win event at prestigious meet
- DMR won in 11:56.68; Sophomore Marissa Carlson, junior Judith Robinson, senior Alissa Mears and senior Molly Montonye teamed up for that win, which was a school-record setting time
- Katie Holzheimer was third in the javelin at Kip Janvrin Open

- Senior Alissa Mears is ranked third in the NSIC in the 800 (2:11.32) which is an NCAA provisional qualifying time and is also ranked fourth in the 400 (57.01)
- Junior Caroline Jansen is ranked third in the NSIC in the triple jump (38-10 1/2) and sixth in the long jump (18-9.25)
- Senior Katrina Mellegard is fifth in the conference in the hammer throw at 167-10
- Senior Molly Montonye is ranked seventh in the 1,500 in the NSIC at 4:39.21
- Jansen will compete at NSIC Multis on Tuesday and Wednesday in Mankato

- Dakotah Bullen opened the Drake Relays for the Wolves finishing 17th overall in the 5000m run on Thursday evening. Bullen hit the line at 16:43.86 for a new personal record
- Hanneke Oosterwegel finished third overall in the 400m hurdles sticking under a minute with her time of 59.57
- Paige Larson tallied the first top-5 finish of the Janvrin Open taking second overall in the 3000m steeplechase. Larson finished with a time of 11:20.06 and was the top Division II finisher
- Michaela Schlecht won the javelin throwing 34.33m on her sixth and final attempt

- The Northern State University Wolves competed at the Drake Relays and Kip Janvrin Open over the weekend
- The women's 4x200m team of Toni-Ann Ingram, Elizabeth Raecke, Mackenzie Cruzen, and Madison Barnes finished 11th overall with a time of 1:46.50 from Drake

- St. Cloud State sent athletes to three different meets over the week
- The program sent Sam Sunstrom to the Drake Relays and she finished 22nd in the 5,000m with an NCAA DII Provisional Qualifying mark and school record time of 16:56.54
- The program sent a larger delegation to the Kip Janvrin Open in Indianola, Iowa on the campus of Simpson College
- The program had four three-finishes on the day led by Patience Yalartai winning the triple jump with a 11.60m/38’00.75 for the fourth time this season
- The team sent a pair of athletes to the Saint Mary’s Open in Winona, Minnesota
- Dominique Buechel finished third in the discus at the meet with a 42.11m / 138-02

- Chandra Smith was the highlight of the day, finishing second overall in the 5000m run with a time of 19:54.22, breaking the UIU school outdoor record in the event
- Caitlin Himes finished runner-up in the discus throw with a toss of 42.68m (140'-0"), and placed 10th overall in the shot put, with a toss of 11.57m (37-11.5)
- Brinn Grunder placed fourth in the shot put with a toss of 12.51m (41-0.5)
- Taylor Doermann in the javelin throw placing 15th overall with a throw of 24.68m (81-0)
- Alyssa Weber placed 8th in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 13:11.27, and Breyanna Hill placed 9th overall with a time of 1:02.06 to round out the day

- Dendinger was third in the hammer throw in rainy conditions with mark of 203’ 5” – fourth time over 200 feet this season and top Division II thrower
- Dendinger also finished third in shot put at 49’-9 – top Division II thrower
- Senior Mary Alderson won 400 meter dash at Mt. Marty Twilight Meet in 60.59 seconds

- Drake- The second day was highlighted by the 4x400 meter relay team of Brittany Schyvinck, Johnna Patterson, Ali Johnson and Megan Seidl who took fourth with a time of 3:48.35. It was the fourth fastest time in school history
- The Warriors distance medley relay team of Anna Rogahn, Alexandra Hutchison, Ali Johnson and Nikki Staffen took seventh with a time of 12:22.00. It was the third fastest time in school history
- On Saturday, several Winona State track and field athletes competed at the SMU Open in Winona
- The Warriors won eight events on the day
- Ali Skluzacek won the 200 meters in a time of 26.35
- Madeline Tompach won the 800 meters with a time of 2:18.43
- Amanda Kaiser won the 1500 meters with her time of 4:46.41 seconds
- Olivia Anger won the 5000 meters by almost 50 seconds when she crossed the line in a time of 19:05.43
- Kari Schneiss won the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:03.39
- McKenzie Fortier won the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 11:41.49
- Schneiss, Desirae Moss, Amanda Wanie and Emily Hovesth won the 4x400 meter relay in a time of 4:08.00
- Amanda Schaefer finished first in the high jump. Schaefer had a height of 1.61 meters/5-03.25
