NCAA Central Region Women's Basketball Brackets Announced

INDIANAPOLIS– The NCAA has announced the eight teams that will compete at the central region women's basketball tournament and the NSIC will have three teams continuing their seasons.  Augustana, Northern State and MSU Moorhead each earned a spot in the NCAA post-season tournament which will take place on March 9-10, 12. Game times will be announced later in the week.

Augustana (27-3) earned the top seed and will host the central region tournament at the Elmen Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Northern State (25-5) earned the fifth seed while MSU Moorhead (23-5) was the seventh seed. NSU and MSUM earned an at-large bid while Augie was the NSIC automatic qualifier after winning the NSIC/Sanford Health Basketball Tournament. 

MSUM will open the tournament versus the second seed of Central Missouri out of the MIAA.  NSU will do battle with fourth seeded Arkansas Tech of the GAC while Augustana will host Lindenwood of the MIAA.

Augustana, Lindenwood and Arkansas Tech each earned automatic bids to the NCAA Central Region Tournament with their conference tournament championships.  The NSIC, the Great American Conference (GAC) and the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) make up the NCAA Central Region again this year.

The NCAA Women’s Basketball Elite 8 will take place on March 19-21-23 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
