SMITHVILLE, Mo. – The eight-time defending champion, Augustana University, powered its way back into the lead after round two of the NSIC Women's Golf Championships played at Paradise Pointe in Smithville, Missouri.  The Vikings shot a second round 299 to erase an eight-stroke deficit and now lead by 12 strokes headed into the final round on Sunday.

The Vikings hold a 12-stroke lead on Minnesota State, which has shot rounds of 313 and 319 to sit at 632, 12 shots back of the Vikings leading 620.  Augie's Emily Isrealson shot an even-par round of 72 in round to vault herself forward six spots to lead the field.  She holds a one stroke lead over round one leader Maddy Messin of MSU, who has shot rounds of 75 and 78.   Augustana has four golfers ranked in the top ten and three in the top five after two rounds.

Kali Trautman and Alex Stone are sitting at fourth and fifth after two days. Trautman shot five-over (77) on the day and is sitting at 11-over (78-77) on the tournament. Stone finished day two six-over (78) and is at 12-over (78-78).   Sierra Langlie was the biggest mover on day two. Langlie moved up 17 spots and sits in ninth after shooting even (72) on day two. Langlie is at 15-over (87-72) after two days. Hannah Hankinson sits in the 24th at 23-over (85-82).

The final round of the 54-hole championship will begin on Sunday morning with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.  The top five golfers will be named NSIC All-Tournament, while the team champion will earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Super Regional, which will be played at Missouri Bluffs Golf Club in St. Charles, Missouri, hosted by Lindenwood University on May 7-9.  Augustana is currently ranked first in the regional rankings while MSU is tenth.
