MINOT, N.D. -- Minot State junior kicker/punter JoseLuis Moreno has been named the D2football.com Special Teams Player of the Week the organization announced on Wednesday.

Moreno, who was also named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Teams Player of the Week, played a big part in the Beavers defeating Mary 41-28 last Saturday in Herb Parker Stadium as he broke one school record and tied another.

Moreno drilled a school-record 58-yard field goal to end the first half and was also successful from 44 yards out in the third quarter. He averaged 59.7 yards on seven kickoffs with four of his kicks resulting in a touchback. Additionally, he was 5-for-5 on extra point attempts during the win.

Moreno also tied a school record when he hit an 88-yard punt and he finished the game averaging 42.6 yards on seven total punts.

Minot State returns to action this weekend when it hosts Minnesota Crookston on Saturday (Sept. 22) at 2 p.m. in Herb Parker Stadium for Homecoming.
