NSIC Wrestler of the Week
James Burks (157, Fr., Omaha, Neb. / Harry A. Burke HS) - Northern State
- Won the 157lb weight class at the
Jimmie Open going 4-0
- Opened the meet with a victory by fall (2:35) over Maxwell Meekins of Saskatchewan
- Defeated Braydon Huber of UMary in a 10-7 decision in the quarterfinals
- Advanced to the finals defeating regionally ranked Zachary Berry of Minot State in a 9-1 major decision
- Downed Max Bruss of UMary in a 13-4 major decision in the finals
- Recorded 19 team points for the Wolves
Other Top Performances
Ben Kelvington (AUGIE) won the first-place title at the
Jimmie Open at 174 pounds in his first event back from an injury that forced him to redshirt last season. It was the first event he has participated in since the 2017-18 season. The Augustana Preseason Wrestler to Watch went 4-0 and recorded one tech fall and two major decisions. Round 1 - Won by Tech Fall (17-2) Round 2 (Quarterfinal) - Won by decision (9-6) Round 3 (Semifinal) - Won by Major Decision (16-5) Round 4 (Final) - Won by Major Decision (12-4)
Connor Manderfeld (UIU) went 3-0 at 141 pounds to earned co-champion status at the
Yellowjacket Open. Manderfeld posted three wins including a fall, a tech fall and a major to earn a team-high 22.5 points with his three victories.
