NSIC Sends Two Teams to NCAA Central Region Soccer Tournament

INDIANAPOLIS– The NSIC will send two teams to the NCAA Central Region soccer tournament as Bemidji State and Minnesota State will advance into NCAA postseason play.

Bemidji State (18-1-2; 13-0-2 NSIC) garnered a No. 3 seed and will tackle sixth-seeded Central Oklahoma (13-5-2; 8-2-1 MIAA) in Friday’s regional first-round match. The opening kick is set for 10 a.m.

Pulling down the No. 6 spot in the most recent United Soccer Coach national poll, Bemidji State is making its third appearance in NCAA Tournament. With just one loss in 21 matches this season, BSU earned its second Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference regular-season title before advancing to the NSIC Tournament championship for the first time in program history. The Beavers have spent eight consecutive weeks among the nation’s top 20.

Joining Bemidji State and UCO in the Emporia, Kan. Central Regional is No. 2 seed Emporia State University (18-2-1; 9-2-1 MIAA) and No. 7 Northwest Missouri State University (13-6-1; 8-2-1 MIAA).

The Mavericks (17-2-2) will be traveling to Warrensburg, Missouri, as the No. 1 seed, Central Missouri, will be hosting the first two rounds at the South Recreation Complex at the University of Central Missouri. On Friday Nov. 19, Minnesota State will face the No. 5 seed, Oklahoma Baptist (13-5-1) while Central Missouri takes on the No. 8 seed, Southwestern Oklahoma (13-6-1). The winner of these two matches will play in the second round of the tournament on Sunday, Nov. 21.
