NSIC Men's Track Athlete of the Week
Kornelius Klah (Hurdles, Sr., Philadelphia, Pa. / Pennsbury HS) - Minnesota State
- Finished first in the 60m hurdles at the
MSU Triangular
- Ran a time of 7.97, which is a NCAA provisional mark
- Ranks fourth in NCAA Division II this season
- Also finished first in the 400m dash with a time of 50.08
NSIC Men's Field Athlete of the Week
Tanner Berg (Throws, Sr., Watertown, S.D. / Watertown HS) - Northern State
- Won the weight throw and shot put at the
UMary Marauder Festival
- Threw 70-10.75 (21.61m) in the weight throw, over 19-feet further than the second place
- Weight throw mark would rank as the second best throw in the nation, only behind is own mark of 71-6.25
- Weight throw also surpassed the NCAA automatic qualifying mark
- Added a heave of 55-1 (16.79m) in the shot put
- Named NSIC Field Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season
Other Top Track Performances
Alec Kray (AUGIE) ran the 5,000m at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka, Kansas in a new school record time of 14:10.51 placing third in the event. His time broke the school record by eight seconds and ranks 17th in the nation.
Jesse Kaas (UMary) posted the Marauders first NCAA provisional qualifying mark of the season at the SDSU Indoor Classic. He finished the 5000 meter run in 14:28.57 and placed fifth in the Classic against a deep pool of NCAA Division I and II student-athletes. He ranks third in the NSIC and 30th in the nation.
Nadir Yusuf (MSUM) won the 5000 meter run at Marauder Winter Festival with a time of 14:38.40. The adjusted time is 14:29 which fourth best in NSIC.
Tafara Hondonga (NSU) won the 400m dash at the Marauder Festival with a time of 50.88. He added a second place finish in the 200m dash with a time of 22.89. He ranks sixth in the NSIC in the 400m.
Logan Hanson (USF) recorded a pair of top-10 performances in the middle distance races. With a 1:58.67 clocking in the 800-meters at the Minnesota State Triangular Hanson finished second had a season-best and a top-10 time in the NSIC this year. He also won the 1,000-meter run at 2:36.40 at the SDSU Classic on Saturday. His clocking ranks fifth in the NSIC.
Broderick Starnes (SMSU) crossed the line at 7.10 to win the 60m and also won the 200m with a time of 23.15 at the Concordia College Meet on Saturday. He has won all four races he has competed in this season.
Other Top Field Performances
Tyl Woelber (AUGIE) competed in his first triple jump of the season, leaping to a third place finish at the SDSU Classic in Brookings, South Dakota, with a jump of 46-05.25 that puts him fourth in the conference.
Christian Davis (CSP) won the long jump and broke the CSP school record in his first collegiate attempt at the Minnesota State Triangular with an NSIC-best mark of 24-0.25 (7.32m). That mark currently places him eighth in the nation in the long jump. He also competed in the triple jump, taking fourth place with a mark of 41-7.25 (12.68m).
Bedale Naba (MSU) finished first in the shot put with a throw of 54-11.50 (16.75m), which is a provisional qualifier that ranks 17th in the nation.
Shyrone Kemp (MSUM) won the triple jump at SDSU with a jump of 49-2.25. He is ranked fifth in the nation in that event and first in NSIC.
Connor Wigand (SMSU) beat his own program record in the shot put with a toss of 55-5 (16.89m) to earn first place at the Concordia College Meet on Saturday. He also captured first place in the weight throw at 57-2.25 (17.43m).
Paul Marchand (UIU) had the highlight of the day in UIU’s 73-38 dual victory over Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa on Saturday. Marchand broke the UIU record for the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.97 seconds and won the event. Marchand also won the long jump with a mark of 22-0.25 (6.71m).
Cade Kalkowski (WSC) was the top collegiate thrower in the weight throw at Ichabod Invite as he took second in field of 36 throwers with mark of 65-11. He ranks fourth in NCAA Division II with top mark of 67-11.5 this season.
