BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The pairings for the 2021 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament are set as the 11-match NSIC schedule concluded Sunday. Augustana, which won its 11th straight NSIC regular season championship, will be the number one seed in the eight-team single elimination tournament, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 23-24 at Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The Vikings will take on the eighth seed, Bemidji State on Friday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
Augustana has won 129 straight NSIC matches, with its last loss coming back on April 19, 2009 to Minnesota State. Since joining the NSIC in 2008-09, the Viking are 136-3 in NSIC matches, have won 11 straight NSIC regular season titles and the last nine NSIC Tournaments. The Vikings have won their last 25 NSIC Tournament matches as well.
Other first round matchups have second seeded Winona State versus seventh seeded Minnesota Duluth at 9 a.m. Third seeded MSU Moorhead will take on sixth seeded Sioux Falls at 11:30 a.m. with the final match of the day being fourth seeded UMary versus fifth seeded Southwest Minnesota State at 4:30 p.m. All match start times are subject to change if earlier matches run long. No matches will begin early than the announced start time.
Both semifinal matches will be play Saturday, April 24 at 8 a.m. with the championship match set for noon.
TIE-BREAKERS
MSUM/UMary/SMSU: Teams split head to head; MSUM earned the third seed as they defeated WSU during regular season.
UMary/SMSU: UMary earned fourth seed as they defeated SMSU during regular season.
