NSIC Tennis Tournament set for Friday-Saturday

The pairings for the 2021 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament are set as the 11-match NSIC schedule concluded Sunday.  Augustana, which won its 11th straight NSIC regular season championship, will be the number one seed in the eight-team single elimination tournament, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, April 23-24 at Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Tournament Website

NSIC Player of the Week
Maegan Flight (Sr., Charleston, Ill. / Charleston HS) - Southwest Minnesota State
- Went 2-0 at No. 1 doubles and 1-1 at No. 1 singles during a split versus Augustana and Sioux Falls
- Teamed with Courtenay Leonard to earn a 6-4 win over Augustana’s nationally-ranked doubles
- Added a 6-4 win over Sioux Falls at No. 1 doubles
- At No. 1 singles, lost a tight 6-1, 3-6, 0-1 (7-10) match to Augie’s Valeriya Monko
- Defeated USF’s Megan Quandt, 6-3, 6-0 on Saturday
- Finished 9-1 in NSIC singles matches and had six doubles victories in NSIC play
- Helped SMSU to an 8-3 record in NSIC play

Other Top Performances
Aleksandra Kistanova (AUGIE)
went 3-0 in No. 5 singles last week with matches against Southwest Minnesota State, Upper Iowa, and regional opponent Northwest Missouri State. She also had three wins in doubles play with Emily Granson in No. 2 and No. 3 doubles. She is now 12-2 in singles play and 14-0 in doubles.

Rachel Klatt (USF) moved to 6-6 overall on the season and 6-5 in NSIC play with her straight set win over UIU’s Mya Hermann at No. 4 singles. She won her team-best fifth straight match. In addition, she was part of the winning No. 2 doubles squad that earned a 6-0 win over Lisa Ziana and Hermann of UIU. As a result, she is 7-3 as part of doubles play this season. She has been on doubles team that have won four straight matches.

Rina Niehoff (WSU) defeated Sofia Sackett of Luther 4-6, 6-0, 10-2 at No. 3 singles. Teamed with Rachel Kelly to def. Sofia Sackett and Natalia Smith  6-2.
