NSU's Ian Marshall Named D2CCA Super Region 4 Defensive Player of the Year

Golden, Colo. – The Division II Conference Commissioners Association released their 2022 All-Region football teams earlier today. Adding to his honors for the season, Northern State defensive lineman Ian Marshall was named the Super Region 4 Defensive Player of the Year. Marshall also garnered first team all-region honors with the award.

In mid-November Marshall was named the NSIC Defensive Newcomer and Defensive Player of the Year. He led the NSIC in both tackles for a loss (24.5) and sacks (14.0), totaling 39 tackles on the year. He ranks third in the nation in tackles for a loss and sacks. The Springfield native broke the Northern State single game (4.0) and single season (14.0) sacks records in 2022, and sits third on the NSU all-time sacks list after just one season. He added one fumble recovery and four quarterback hurries.
 
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss views, policies and regulations that impact Division II intercollegiate athletics and works closely with the NCAA as a communications channel to NCAA Division II member colleges and universities. The D2CCA Football All-America teams are set for release on Thursday, Dec. 15.
