NSIC Elite 18 Award

Moorhead, Minn. – Daniel Bishop of Augustana University was named the 2021-22 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for wrestling. Bishop is a senior with a 3.75 cumulative GPA, majoring in psychology.  

As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships. To be eligible for the NSIC Elite 18 Award in wrestling, a student-athlete must be a member of the regular season championship team, or a first or second team all-conference performer.  

Bishop is nationally ranked at No. 8 for Augustana and earned Second Team All-NSIC honors this season. The senior holds a record of 19-8 overall and 6-5 in duals and has logged one fall, 10 tech falls and three major decisions. Bishop went 2-2 at this year's Super Region V tournament.
