BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) Commissioner Erin Lind has announced that NSIC Supervisor of Women’s Basketball Officials Vicki Davis will retire following eight-years with the conference. A search for her replacement will begin immediately.

“Vick’s contribution to women’s basketball in the NSIC has been exceptional.  A true guardian of the game, she has used her knowledge to develop and enhance officiating in our league, bringing it to the next level.  Her experience and dedication will be missed as we wish her all the best in the future,” said Lind.

Davis has served in her role since July of 2014.  She served as the initial point of contact for all women's basketball officiating matters within the NSIC. She also communicated with referees throughout the season ensuring compliance with all officiating policies and procedures.  Davis was also responsible for the identification, hiring, training, development and oversight of women's basketball officials for the NSIC.

"As a proud product of the NSIC and a graduate of Minnesota State-Mankato, I was taught to give back.  So, when I was given the position of coordinator of women’s basketball officials for the NSIC, I was elated and felt that this would be my way of 'giving back' to the sport that I love via officiating.  My goal was to make women’s basketball the best it could be, to make officiating a fun and rewarding experience.  It has been an honor and a pleasure to work with commissioner, Erin Lind, the NSIC staff and the NSIC women’s basketball coaches as they are dedicated and committed group of individuals," stated Davis.

Davis has an extensive resume which includes experience as an observer of officials for the Big 10 Conference and the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). From 1968 to 2002 she was an official in all three divisions of the NCAA and at the high school level. Davis worked as the coordinator of women's basketball officials for the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) from 1990-2003 and is a past president of the Minnesota State Coaches Association.

Davis received a Bachelor of Arts degree in physical education, health and coaching from Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSU) in 1971.  She then received a Master of Arts degree in physical education and athletic administration from MSU in 1979.  While an undergrad, Davis was a captain on the volleyball and basketball teams and later, in 1983, was inducted into the MSU Hall of Fame.   She was also inducted into the Minnesota State High School League Hall of Fame in 1994 for her contributions to officiating.

"The conference, the game of women’s basketball and I will miss her," said University of Minnesota Duluth Senior Associate Athletic Director Karen Stromme.  "She spent her entire career improving her own skills as an official, and then transitioned into improving the skills of ALL our NSIC women’s officials as our supervisor. She has earned the respect of student athletes, coaches and administrators with her work ethic and dedication to our game. Congratulations and thank you Vicki!"

“Vicki has been an outstanding ambassador and advocate for women’s basketball. Her mentorship and guidance will be greatly missed. She has made a lasting impression on our game and we should all be thankful for the way she has helped to grow the game of women’s basketball,” said St. Cloud State Head Women’s Basketball Coach Lori Fish.
