2022 NSIC Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year Announced

NSIC Men’s Track Athlete of the Year
Ty Dawkins (Sprints, Sr., Freeport, Bahamas / Bishop Micheal Eldon HS) - MSU Moorhead

- NSIC Champion in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m Relay 
- All-NSIC in the 4x100m Relay
- Ran the anchor leg on the 4x400m Relay

NSIC Men’s Field Athlete of the Year
Tyl Woelber (Jumps, Jr., Pipestone, Minn. / Pipestone Area HS) - Augustana

- Earned the NSIC High Point Performer with 27 points at 2022 championship
- Had two runner up awards, a third place, and a fourth place finish 
- Nationally ranked in the High Jump (7th) where he surpassed the 7 foot barrier 
- Owns the school record in the high jump and the triple jump
- Ranks 18th nationally in the javelin throw and also owns the school record

NSIC Men’s Newcomer of the Year
Luke Schroeder (Hurdles, Fr., Green Bay, Wis. / Ashwaubenon High) - Northern State

- Won the 400-meter hurdles in 53.61 at the NSIC Championships
- All-NSIC performer in the 110 hurdles, running 14.64 to place third
- Also ran on 4x100 and 4x400 relays 

NSIC Men’s Assistant Coach  of the Year
Trevor Barry - MSU Moorhead

- Coached student-athletes that scored 79 of MSUM’s 132 team points at NSIC Championships
- Coached individual NSIC champions in the 200m, 400, HJ, TJ and 4x400m relay
- Also coached an All-NSIC performances in the 4x100m relay, HJ, and 400m
- Coached National ranked athletes in the LJ, HJ, TJ, and 4x400m Relay

NSIC Men’s Coach  of the Year
Mike Turgeon - Minnesota State

- Led the Mavericks to their 10th straight NSIC Team Champions with 214 points
- His team had NSIC Champions in six events and a relay
- Coached seven student-athletes that qualified for NCAA DII Championships
- Named NSIC Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year the last four seasons

All-Conference performers consist of the top three place winners in each event and the members of the top two relay teams from the conference meet. 2022 All-NSIC Performers

The NSIC is a 16-team, 18-sport, NCAA Division II conference with institutions located in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The NSIC is a model Division II conference that uses high-level athletics competition to develop champions in the classroom and community while empowering student-athletes to be impactful and positive leaders.
