2022 NSIC Women's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Year Announced

NSIC Women’s Track Athlete of the Year
Denisha Cartwright (Sprints, Jr., Nassau, Bahamas / Pennfoster HS) - Minnesota State

- Scored 28.5 points at NSIC Championships
- Set NSIC record in winning the 100-meter hurdles (13.28)
- Ranked first nationally in the 100-meter hurdles and ran 16th fastest time in Division II history
- Was part of the winning 4x100m Relay at NSIC Championships
- All-NSIC performer in 100m & 200m, ranking fifth in the nation in the 200m

NSIC Women’s Field Athlete of the Year
D'Andra Morris (Jumps, Sr., Kingston, Jamaica / Camperdown HS) - University of Mary

- Won the triple jump at NSIC Championships with a mark of 42-2 (12.85m) to set NSIC record 
- The mark is an NCAA provisional mark and remains first in Division II in the event 
- Placed fifth in the long jump with a mark of 19-8 (5.99m)
- Long jump was a NCAA Provisional Mark and good for 19th in the country
- Placed fifth in the high jump with a mark of 5-5 (1.65m)
- Earned 17.5 total points in field events at the championship 
- Earned her 10th total title in her career
- Qualified for NCAA Championships in long and triple jump

NSIC Women’s Newcomer of the Year
Hannah Arason (Multi-Events/Jumps, Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.  / U of M) - St. Cloud State

- NSIC Champion in Heptathlon at NSIC Championship with 5205 points
- Ranked sixth in NCAA Division II in the Heptathlon
- Earned All-NSIC honors in the javelin and is ranked 26th in Division II this season 
- Qualified for NCAA Championships 
- Placed seventh in the high jump  and 12th in the long jump

NSIC Women’s Assistant Coach  of the Year
Chris Parno - Minnesota State 

- Coaches student-athletes that scored 89 of the 191 team points at the NSIC Champions
- Coached the NSIC’s Top Two Point scorers (Makayla Jackson 32.5, Denisha Cartwright 28.5) at NSIC Championships
- Coached student-athletes that set three NSIC records at 2022 NSIC Championships 
- Named NSIC Assistant Coach of the Year for the first time

NSIC Women’s Coach  of the Year
Mike Turgeon - Minnesota State 

- Led the Mavericks to their third NSIC Team Champion, first since 2016
- His team had NSIC Champions in six events and a relay
- Coached 10 student-athletes that qualified for NCAA DII Championships
- Has team ranked No. 4 National
- First NSIC Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year honor

The NSIC is a 16-team, 18-sport, NCAA Division II conference with institutions located in Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota.
