NSIC TEAM PREVIEWS & WRESTLERS TO WATCH

Augustana University

We return a lot of regional placers and guys with big match experience. Yet we have a good mix of youth in the room with the 22-23 and 23-24 class. I really like our depth at most weights which translates into great competition with in the room. I am excited to see how this team comes together and grows as we get deeper into our competition season. I really feel our team has grown this off season mentally and physically putting in the work for both.
Head Coach Jason Reitmeier
Jaxson is exactly what we looking for in a student-athlete. He is confident in all areas of his life. He lead by example on the mat and in the classroom. The moment is never too big for him because of how he prepares both his mind and his body. We lean on Jaxson to be the spark for our team.

We have four returning All-Americans, six total returning National Qualifiers, along with two 1st Team & two 2nd Team All NSIC wrestlers. This is the most seasoned and experienced team that our program has had in the past ten years. This group has embodied the 'Gratitude vs. Resentment' culture which has brought this group closer than ever before. These young men are excited for the opportunity to compete every time they step on the mat. We are extremely motivated and have our sights on competing for a National Title.
Head Coach Adam Aho
Max is one of the most consistent performers and the most mentally tough individual that I have ever had the opportunity to coach. He truly embodies the mantra of 'making his opponents remember him' through his relentless and physical wrestling style. He is a four year captain that leads by example on and off the mat.

As we enter our full time training in October, our lineup is pretty blurry. We have some good competition and depth in the room. We’ll definitely be utilizing the open season to not only develop every single wrestler in our room, but we’ll be using it as a proving ground to help piece together our second semester line up. Overall, we have a pretty young roster heading into the season. As always, our program focuses on staying in the now and emphasizes being the best version of yourself on a daily basis.
Head Coach Jim Makovsky
Kole is a hungry, humble, and smart teammate. He’s a talented, quiet leader that quietly sets the tone for the team. Kole is the definition of a dynamic leader. The way he does one thing is how he does everything. Kole excels in the classroom, in the practice room, the weight room, his social life, in competition, and in our community service projects.

This year, six starters from last year's team are back for the MSUM Dragons. They've had a great preseason leading up to their first official practice on October 10th.
Head Coach Kris Nelson
Jonas is the MSUM Dragon Wrestler to keep an eye on. He placed in four open events last season at 165 pounds. This season, Jonas will again be wrestling at the 165-pound weight class. He is captain of the MSUM Dragons Wrestling team and is an extremely hard worker both on the wrestling mat and in the classroom.

This team has a great combination of returners, freshman, and transfers. We will have a lot of experience, but also an exciting group of young guys. We are coming off one of the best seasons that we've had here, so we are looking to build on that. We are also very excited about hosting the Super Region Tournament.
Head Coach Evan Forde
Jake is an impressive student-athlete. He is a returning All-American in wrestling and is also the starting center on the football team. He has a great work ethic and he brings a lot of intensity to everything he does. He has become a fan favorite here at Minot State.

The thing that excites me the most is the experience on this team. We have an older lineup that has been challenged in different ways over the course of the past few years. They are excited for this year and ready to start competing.
Head Coach Rocky Burkett
I am excited to see the growth in Wyatt since he first came on campus. He has challenged himself in so many ways to become the student-athlete he is today. Wyatt truly uses every day to better himself in any way that he can. He has been a leader for our program the last few years and has set the standard for his teammates."

I am excited to see this first team compete! We will be a young team with no seniors, which has been a really fun to work with. Our guys bring a great energy and attitude to practice every day.
Head Coach Matt Meuleners
Paul has been a great leader for our team on and off the mat. He has a positive impact on those around him. Paul has been tremendous in helping build our culture as a team here at USF.

This year’s team is filled with returners who have a wide breadth of experience. 8/10 starters are returning, along with a transfer and 9 freshman who are all looking to make an immediate impact. It is likely we will see some fresh faces in the lineup, and everyone in the room is hungry to prove themselves the top dog. I can truly say that this team is driven. They have a chip on their shoulder and are out to prove they are a force in the NSIC and the country. That attitude alone makes me excited to show up to practice every single day. I can’t wait to see them hit the mats against other opponents.
Head Coach Chayse Jackson
Caden is a once-in-a-career athlete. He works hard, does the right things, is driven, and is a leader in all the right ways for our program. Throughout his career, he has achieved greatness on the mat, seen defeat and injury, graduated with his undergrad, and began his master’s, all while serving as a leader. Caden exemplifies what it means to be coachable and wrestles a dynamic and explosive style that makes him fun to watch. He continually pushes his opponents physically and mentally with his aggressive style, and constantly looks to score no matter the situation. With a combination of traditional technique, funk, and explosive throws, his matches are full of fireworks. Yet, win or lose, he is respectful and an all-around good guy. He is truly one of the most exciting athletes in the country to watch and I can’t wait to see him back healthy and ready to go!

I’m excited to watch these guys compete to the best of their abilities and create memories along the way. It’s fun for us to get on the road, share laughs, and hopefully pick up some wins along the way. Competing at home in De Simone Arena is also always special. We are looking forward to build upon last season and excited to have the opportunity to compete in the toughest conference in NCAA DII wrestling.
Head Coach Nick Becker
Jalen is a young man of high character and is one of our five team captains this season. In his day to day life he leads by example with his soft-spoken demeanor and determined mindset. He has a very strong support system and has possessed an incredible work ethic from a young age. Jalen will continue to accomplish great things in life with his never give up attitude.
