NSIC Players to Watch & Coaches' Quotes

AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY

I'm excited to see how this team comes together as they continue to adapt to a new coaching staff and style of play. They have dominated preseason and there is a burning desire to compete and win at the highest level. We have a lot of experience on our roster and I am looking forward to seeing how every player elevates this year.
Head Coach Jillian Flores Bennett
Lauren has had a fantastic career at Augie and our team is lucky to have her for her final season. We will rely heavily on her to lead us and push us. Lauren has a competitive drive that is contagious and is an extremely skilled point guard. I'm excited to see how she cherishes this last season and for her to display the many facets of her game.
Head Coach Jillian Flores Bennett

BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY

We have a lot of unknowns this year and that is exciting to see who is going to step up and become a point person for us. We have a few ladies who can do it, we just don’t know who yet. We also have some upperclassmen who have worked hard this off season to find time on the court. I am excited for them to hopefully see the fruits of their labor.
Head Coach Chelsea Stoltenberg
Alyssa was thrown into a huge role last year as a freshman and did a great job taking it in stride. She is someone who can score inside and out. Maybe even more importantly, she sees the floor well and does a nice job of finding her teammates for a better shot. We will lean on Alyssa a lot this year.
Head Coach Chelsea Stoltenberg

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, ST. PAUL

What excites me about this year's team is we are returning all starters from last year along with the addition of a few more players including an all-conference point guard Lydia Haack who will play a huge role on our team this season. Also getting our all conference post player Lindsey Becher back and healthy is a huge piece as well.
Head Coach Amanda Johnson
Ally is a returning first team all-conference guard for us who lead our team in scoring, rebounding and assists last season. Ally is a relentless player who can take over the game when needed and wants the ball in critical moments. Her basketball IQ and skill set are what make her stand out and why I believe she is a top candidate for preseason player to watch.
Head Coach Amanda Johnson

UNIVERSITY OF MARY

This year's team has an excellent mix of returning players and newcomers. This is the most athletic squad from top to bottom we've had. It will be an exciting season for UMary Women's Basketball.
Head Coach Rick Neumann
Megan had a tremendous season last year earning First Team All-NSIC status. We expect another big year from Megan and are excited to see her compete again.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA CROOKSTON

Taking over this young team in my first season as head coach in the NSIC is beyond exciting. We have a lot of great players that I am excited to help develop into some of the best players this conference has to offer. These girls work really hard and have been nothing but receptive and eager to learn everything I am teaching them. Being young and talented, if we continue to trust the process and stick true to the culture we are developing here at UMN Crookston, we will be a force to be reckoned with.
Head Coach Natalie Moynihan
Emma made a name for herself last season as Rookie of the Year and an all-conference first team selection. Although I did not get to coach Emma last year, I can confidently say she is an even better player going into this season and has already taken her game to the next level. She's a workhorse and has a drive like no other. If not this year as only a sophomore, at some point in her career, she will be the NSIC POY.
Head Coach Natalie Moynihan

We’re excited to have a significant core returning from last season. With so much experience on the roster this year, the motivation has been incredibly high. This group plays with a so much energy and effort that our practices have taken on a whole different level of competitiveness. They pull for each other and challenge each other and the chemistry on this team is truly special!

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MOORHEAD

This team has excellent chemistry on and off the court, they enjoy working and playing together. We will be young but their basketball IQ will help when it comes to competing in the NSIC. I look for them to make big strides throughout the season, the future is bright!
Head Coach Karla Nelson
Natalie averaged 13.4 points per game, 3.4 assists per game and 1.8 threes per game. We look for her to improve upon those numbers. She also is an outstanding defender to top it off! She is a tremendous leader for the dragons on and off the court.
Head Coach Karla Nelson

MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY

Nine new players excite me about this year. I am very pleased with recruiting class number two. Six true freshmen and three transfers will both compliment and compete with our solid returners. Hopefully, we can blend them together and compete at a high level. The NSIC is obviously very competitive, and our goal is to keep climbing up the ladder.
Head Coach Michael Brandt
Emma has been a great all-around player for the past two years. I look for her to continue her improvement for us as an upper classman. She defends, rebounds, attacks the basket, and has strong leadership qualities that elevate her teammates play. Without any seniors, we will rely on Emma and others to lead us to new heights in developing this Beaver Basketball Program.
Head Coach Michael Brandt

NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY

We are a unique mix of youth and experience. I’m excited to see our young kids step up and our experienced group show them the way.
Head Coach Paula Krueger
Rianna is a four year starter at the PG position and has grown in every facet of the game. Rio is our floor leader and does a great job with the ball in her hands - she makes solid decisions and controls the game for us.
Head Coach Paula Krueger

University of Sioux Falls

Coming off last year's season we had so many injuries that it gave a number of kids experience that maybe they would have not gotten if it wasn't for all the injuries. We have a number of those kids back and have added some exciting players. We will still be playing a number of young kids but the future of our program looks great.
Head Coach Travis Traphagen
Brecli is a do it all type of wing. She can attack the rim and post up for us. She has really improved her 3 point shooting and will be force for us this season both on the offensive end and defensive end of the floor.
Head Coach Travis Traphagen

Southwest Minnesota State University

It's been fun to watch the competitive spirit this group has. From the first day of skill-work this group has demonstrated a strong desire to improve daily.
Head Coach Tom Webb
Sam had an outstanding junior season. Sam led the NSIC in made 3FG with 77 (24th NCAA Div. II) and 3PT FG% at 42% (19th NCAA Div. II). She also led our team in scoring averaging 13.9 ppg (19th in the NSIC). Sam has worked extremely hard to continue to improve her game every year.
Head Coach Tom Webb

St. Cloud State University

With a roster of 10 underclassmen, we will rely heavily on our seniors to help prepare our young team for what it takes to work hard every day and compete in the toughest conference in Division II.
Head Coach Lori Fish
Jada had an outstanding freshman campaign and we are excited to see how she elevates her game after the off season and knowing what it takes to play in the NSIC
Head Coach Lori Fish

Wayne State College

There's a lot to be excited about this year. With a returning core that played a lot of minutes last year, their experience will benefit the team greatly. All the returners bring a unique skill set. Whether that be inside play, shooting, defense, or rebounding. With that being said, we brought in a few transfers and freshmen that will all make immediate impacts. Britney Ho is a 5th year senior from Newman University who brings a strong inside presence and earned MIAA All-Third Team honors, along with teammate from Newman Jordon Heckert (Junior) who is a great shooter. Another transfer Carsyn Boswell (Graduate Transfer) is another junior who Started at Idaho State, her experience and efficiency shooting from 3PT will work together with a strong inside presence. We're excited about our Freshmen Makenna Clark and Brooklyn Kruse. Clark brings in great experience being a floor general and efficient shooter in high school, while Kruse adds to the depth and will contribute to a strong forward group.
Head Coach Brent Pollari
With three of the leading scorers on the team graduating in the spring, Maya is now the returning leading scorer from last year (7.7 PPG). She has improved her game so much since she arrived in Wayne as a freshman. She will be one of the best two-way players in the conference. She can attack the basket and finish as good as anyone in the conference, because she has quick feet and uses her strong frame to bounce off defenders. Her quick feet are both a strength on offense and defense. Keep an eye out for her to be in the conversation for defensive player of the year as well, because she is an active defender with her hands and can keep anyone in front of her. Last year she shot 43% from 3PT, we believe she will continue to be a consistent inside and outside threat.
Head Coach Brent Pollari

Winona State University

We look forward to seeing our players step into their roles and see what they can do as a collective group. This is a fun group to be around. They have a unique way of competing where they can bring out the best in each other while also celebrating each other's success each day.
Head Coach Ana Wurtz
Alex has worked incredibly hard to continually develop and improve her game. She has extended her range to where she is a consistent threat from the perimeter and has the ability to take her defender inside off the bounce and the mid post. She is also one of our most versatile defenders which is a result of her strong work ethic. Alex is an absolute joy to coach and someone our team will look to for leadership this season.
