NSIC Football had five student-athletes named to the AP DIvision II All-American teams, including three first team members.
Augustana's
? Peyton Buckley was named to the first team while ?
Blake Larson earned second team honors.
Buckley, a junior from Rice Lake, Wisconsin, led Augustana with 78 tackles and 7.5 tackles for loss. He recorded three interceptions, tallying 91 yards of return, and was credited with nine pass breakups giving him nearly a pass defended per game. He totaled a season-high 11 tackles in the win at Concordia-St. Paul, the same contest he forced a fumble. Of his 78 tackles, 57 were marked solo for the safety.
Larson, a senior hailing from Brandon, South Dakota, concluded a career of 46 games played at Augustana by protecting a rushing attack that saw a running back eclipse 1,000 yards on the ground. He also held strong on the line that protected a quarterback that led the NSIC and ranked 16
th in the nation with passing efficiency. He started all 13 games at right tackle and has found himself on many draft boards of NFL programs.
Bemidji State senior offensive tackle
Ty Cobb and redshirt sophomore defensive end
Marcus Hansen were each named to the Associated Press All-America Teams. Cobb was named First Team, while Hansen was tabbed Second Team. This is a second straight AP All-America accolade for Cobb after being named Second Team in 2022. Both Cobb and Hansen were recently named D2CCA All-Super Region 4.
Cobb was recently selected First Team All-Super Region 4 for a third consecutive season. Cobb started all 12 games this season and helped an offense average 30.50 points per game and 399.2 total yards per game. He was named to the All-NSIC First Team once again this season and finishes his career starting 38 straight games. In over 1,400 pro snaps, Cobb allowed only four sacks throughout his career. Last year, he went on to earn All-America honors from D2CCA being selected to the Second Team in addition to the AP accolades.
Hansen, the NSIC Defensive Player of the Year, led the conference in tackles for loss and sacks during the regular season. He started all 12 games and finished with 19 tackles for loss and 10 sacks, along with 51 tackles, 31 solo stops. Hansen forced three fumbles and had eight quarterback hurries. Hansen had a tackle for loss in 11 games, with multiple tackles for loss in six games with a high of four. He added a sack in seven games. He was recently selected to the First Team D2CCA All-Super Region 4 squad as well.
Minnesota State junior
Shen Butler-Lawson has claimed AP All-American First Team honors for his efforts this past season. A running back from Augusta, Ga., Butler-Lawson led the Maverick rushing attack with 1,446 yards and 15 touchdowns. He ran for more than 100 yards in six games this past season, including a career-high 221 yards against Sioux Falls. His 1,446 rushing yards are the fifth-most in a season in team history. Earlier this season, Butler-Lawson received AFCA All-American First Team honors.
