BURNSVILLE, Minn. - The 2023 NSIC Men's Basketball Tournament bracket is set as the
22-game regular season ended Saturday evening. Northern State (19-3) won the NSIC Overall and North Division Titles and will be the top seed in the North Division. Wayne State, Upper Iowa, and Sioux Falls were all 13-9 in the NSIC to claim a share of the NSIC South Division Crown. Wayne State will be the top seed, followed by Upper Iowa, with Sioux Falls earning the third seed.
The NSIC Men’s Basketball Tournament will consist of 12 teams and will be seeded by division (N 1-6 & S 1-6) using overall conference record (22-games). The top two seeds in each division will receive first round byes.
The first round of the tournament is set for Wednesday, February 22 on the campuses of the higher seeds in each match up. The quarterfinals, semifinals, and championship will take place on February 25-28 at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. All rounds of the NSIC Men’s Basketball Tournament played at the Sanford Pentagon will be aired live on Midco Sports and all games will be streamed for free on the NSIC Network.
Tiebreakers:
South Division
Wayne State earned the top seed with three wins against UIU and USF; Upper Iowa earned the second seed with two wins against WSC and USF.
Augustana earned the fifth seed with a season sweep of MSU.
North Division
University of Mary, Minot State, and St. Cloud State all split season series; both SCSU and MINOT were 5-9 in divisional play with UMary being 4-10. Minot State earned the fifth seed over SCSU due to their win against Northern State while SCSU was swept by NSU this season.
