NSIC Elite 18 Award

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Reece Worachek from the University of Wisconsin Parkside was named the 2022-23 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for wrestling. Worachek is a junior (academically) with a 3.92 cumulative grade point average, majoring in education.  

As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships. To be eligible for the NSIC Elite 18 Award in wrestling, a student-athlete must be a member of the regular season championship team, or a first or second team all-conference performer.  

Worachek finished his redshirt-sophomore season seventh at 184 pounds at the NCAA National Championships, earning All-American honors. He owned a record of 31-6 on the season, won the NCAA Super Region V Championship and was named All-NSIC First Team. He also helped the Rangers to their first NSIC Regular Season Championship with a perfect 9-0 dual record and a 15th place finish at the NCAA Championships.
