Augustana wins its 14th NSIC Men’s Cross Country Championship

MINOT, N.D. – Augustana University won its 14th NSIC Men's Cross Country Championship in the past 15 meets as the Vikings scored 31 teams points with three of the top six finishers. The championship was held at Souris Valley Golf Course in Minot, North Dakota; hosted by Minot State University.

Ryan Hartman of Augustana was the individual champion for the second year in a row as he traversed the 8K course in 23:49.40. Teammates Erik Gundersen (24:06.9) and Brady Hogan (24:11.2) were third and sixth, respectively. 

MSU Moorhead’s Chase Hoechst  was named NSIC Newcomer of the Year after his seventh place finish with a time of 24:11.8. The NSIC Newcomer of the Year is awarded to the highest placing student-athlete competing in their first year of cross country competition in the NSIC. 

Augustana’s Tracy Hellman was voted by his peers as the NSIC Coach of Year for the 14th time in the last 15 championships.

The top ten finishers are named All-NSIC First Team while finishers 11-20 earn All-NSIC Second Team honors.

The NCAA regional will take place on Saturday, November 9th in Joplin, Missouri.  The NCAA Championships are set for Saturday, November 23 at Arcade Creek CC Course in Sacramento, California.
