Augustana wins its ninth NSIC Women’s Cross Country Championship

MINOT, N.D. – Augustana University won its ninth NSIC Women's Cross Country Championship as the Vikings scored 54 teams points after placing five runners in the top 20. Ella Bakken led the Vikings with a fourth place finish with a time of 20.43.4.

The University of Mary’s Alyssa Becker covered the 6,000-meter course in a time of 19:51.20 to win the individual NSIC Cross Country Championship.  Becker was also voted by the league coaches as the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year for women’s cross country.

Ella Voit of Winona State took home NSIC Newcomer of the Year honors as she was the top finisher competing in their first year of NSIC competition. She was 10th with a time of 21:13.90.

The Viking’s Head Coach Tracy Hellman was voted by his peers as the NSIC Coach of Year for the eighth time in his career.

The top ten finishers are named All-NSIC First Team while finishers 11-20 earn All-NSIC Second Team honors.

The NCAA Regional will take place on Saturday, November 9th in Joplin, Missouri.  The NCAA Championships are set for Saturday, November 23 at Arcade Creek CC Course in Sacramento, California.
