NSIC Elite 18 Award

BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Reece Worachek from the University of Wisconsin Parkside repeated as the NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for wrestling. Worachek is a senior (academically) with a 3.90 cumulative grade point average, majoring in education.  

As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was instituted to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in their sport, while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The NSIC Elite 18 award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 Championships. To be eligible for the NSIC Elite 18 Award in wrestling, a student-athlete must be a member of the regular season championship team, or a first or second team all-conference performer.  

Worachek holds a 25-5 overall record at 184 pounds and went 8-1 in NSIC duals. He earned bonus points in five of his eight conference wins. Worachek then went on to win the NCAA Super Region V Tournament, securing a return spot in the NCAA Division II National Championships. He is ranked No. 5 by the NWCA in NCAA Division II at 184 pounds entering the NCAA Championships.  He is set to face Markis Hill (16-6) of Emmanuel in the opening round on Friday, March 15.
