WSU's Tveite earns NCBWA Division II National Player of the Week

DALLAS (NCBWA) –
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association released its NCAA Division II National Players of the Week awards for the week ending on March 24, 2024.  Winona State senior Peter Tveite is the National Pitcher of the Week. 
  
Tveite (Lakeville, Minn. / North HS) pitched a perfect game in a 12-0 win over Bemidji State.  He retired all 21 batters in order, while striking out ten in the seven-inning contest.  He became the second WSU pitcher to throw a perfect game in program history as Winona State began baseball in 1919. 

Tveite is the second pitcher from the NSIC to earn the award this season as Caleb Saari of Augustana took home the honors on March 14.

Founded in 1962, the NCBWA is dedicated to the advancement of college baseball. Membership is open to writers, broadcasters and publicists of the sport. Members receive a membership card, directory, newsletter updates and official votes in the Howser Award Player of the Year, Regional Player of the Year and NCBWA All-America voting. The NCBWA also sponsors preseason All-America awards, publication and writing contests.
