Brandon Sperling was voted by the league coaches as the NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year in men's golf. A native of Lakeville, Minnesota, Sperling is a senior majoring in business management while holding a 3.55 grade point average. This is the third consecutive year the Concordia-St. Paul men's golf program has earned this prestigious award, with Sperling joining the 2021-22 selection Taylor Zack and 2022-23 selection Thomas Huettl.
The “NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year Award” is presented to a NSIC Men's Golf student-athlete who participates at their institution for four years and is academically superior while making a positive contribution to their team and the University. The NSIC Outstanding Senior of the Year award was initiated in 2021-22 to honor an outstanding senior that exemplifies the attributes of the model NSIC student-athlete.
Sperling is the Golden Bear's all-time scoring average leader at 74.14 over 79 rounds. He is a two-time All-NSIC performer, earning first team honors a year ago. He has earned NSIC Men's Golfer of the Week honors six times over the past two seasons. In 2021-22 he helped CSP win its first NSIC Men's Golf team title as he finished tied for second, earning All-Tournament Team honors. Last season, he tied for ninth at the NSIC Championships, helping the Golden Bears to a fourth-place team finish. He earned NCAA Division II PING All-Central Region Team honors and represented CSP at the NCAA Division II Central/Midwest Regional, finishing t-25th with a score of 220 (+7). Sperling holds a 72.23 stroke average of 22 rounds with four top-five finishes this season.
Sperling is a two-time NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence recipient. When not on the course or in the classroom, Sperling has been a participant in the TEAM IMPACT program where the team is helping a young man with disability learn how to love and play golf. He is also a participant with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes on campus.
"The greatest compliment we can give Brandon is that he is 'The Example' of what it takes to turn yourself into an exceptional student athlete. His growth both on the golf course and in the classroom makes us proud to call him a Golden Bear. The culture he has helped build, leaves a great legacy." said Head Coach Peter Maki.

About NCAA Division II
The NCAA, the national governing body for college athletics, is a volunteer association of more than 1,000 colleges and universities that classify their athletics programs in one of three membership divisions. The 300+ institutions in NCAA Division II support a balanced approach in which student-athletes have the opportunity to earn scholarships based on their athletic ability, pursue their desired academic degree, and participate in all the campus and surrounding community have to offer. Division II student-athletes annually graduate at rates higher than their student body peers, and they have access to the best championships-participant ratio among the NCAA’s three divisions. Division II gives student-athletes the unique opportunity to compete in the classroom, on the field, in their career, for their causes, and on their terms. For additional information, visit NCAA.org.
