SMITHVILLE, Mo. - Augustana won its 13th NSIC Women's Golf Championship as the 54-hole championship concluded Sunday afternoon at Paradise Pointe in Smithville, Missouri. The Vikings finished the three rounds at 910 (300-310-300) to sit at 46-over-par, to win by 29 strokes. Winona State was second after rounds of 308-305-326=939.
Winona State's Carly Moon earned individual medalist honors after rounds of 72-72-77 to finish at 221, 5-over-par. Augustana had four players earn All-Tournament team honors by finishing in the top five, as Lauren Tims was second at 223, Molly Stevens tied for third at 229 and Shannon McCormick and Lanie Veenendall tied for fifth at 231. Concordia-St. Paul's Piper Hill also tied for third at 229 to round out the top five.
Augustana led the tournament in all statistical categories with the best average scores of Par-3s, Par-4s and Par-5s. The Vikings also dropped in tournament highs with 170 pars and 25 birdies.
Augustana earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Central Regional which will be played on May 6-8 at Hillcrest Country Club in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, hosted by Rogers State University.
