D2CCA Release

MARSHALL, Minn. – Jack Hines has been named the D2CCA Ron Lenz Player of the Year, announced by the Conference Commissioners Association on Thursday afternoon.

Hines has now been named the National Player of the Year from two of three major publications (NCBWA, D2CCA, ABCA), joining Jacob Blank as the only two in program history to earn major national honors from the NCBWA and D2CCA. Blank was the 2017 D2CCA and NCBWA National Pitcher of the Year. He is also the sixth player in program history to be named to the D2CCA All-American First Team.

The CCA All-America and All-Region baseball teams, which are selected by College Sports Communicators (CSC) from schools playing Division II baseball, were first established in 2007. This is the ninth year in which the program is solely sponsored by the Division II Conference  Commissioners Association.

Hines hit .445 with 93 hits, 21 home runs, 89 RBI, 77 runs scored, 178 total bases, an .852 slugging percentage and a 1.337 OPS. He was the only player in the country to rank in the top 10 nationally for each category.

The NSIC Player of the Year broke the program single-season records in slugging percentage, home runs, RBI and total bases while adding top-five marks in batting average, runs scored, hits and triples.

In his three-year Viking career, Hines left his mark. He ranks top-10 in career batting average (.387), slugging percentage (.676), on-base percentage (.466), runs scored (178), hits (237), home runs (37), RBI (171), total bases (414) and double plays turned (68) while resetting the triples (14) and times hit by pitch (42) records.
