SEASON PREVIEWS & ATHLETES TO WATCH

AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY

The men's team will feature an exciting combination of experienced upperclassmen, redshirt freshmen competing in uniform for the first time, and impactful newcomers. We have high goals as a program and I look forward to our men's pursuit of those aspirations.
Head Coach Scott Tanis
Kadin has made steady progress throughout his time at Augustana and is poised to take another step forward this cross country season. He is our top returner from a year ago and has made great strides since. I'm excited for Kadin to step into a new role for us and continue a lineage of great leaders within our program.
Head Coach Scott Tanis

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, ST. PAUL

The Golden Bear are entering the season with quiet confidence and a desire to prove themselves. This year’s roster features a strong blend of young, ambitious talent alongside experienced runners who lead by example. Several of these seasoned athletes earned podium finishes at last spring's NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championship. As we look forward to the upcoming season, our focus is on steady growth and performing at our best when it truly matters.
Head Coach Jonathan Breitbarth
Andrew embodies the qualities every coach hopes to find in an athlete: relentless determination, humility, and a strong sense of purpose. When he first arrived on campus, he ran the 10K in 36 minutes. However, after years of consistent effort and trust in the training process, he has improved his time to 31:55 and finished 5th at the NSIC Outdoor Track and Field Championships. This fall, Andrew is eager to continue building on his remarkable progress.
Head Coach Jonathan Breitbarth

UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN

Our team is very young this year, with the majority of the team being true freshman. That being said, they have quickly bought in to both training and culture and are ready to hold their own in the NSIC early in their careers. We are excited to begin a new era in Jamestown XC and ready to be competitive this fall!
Head Coach Jarvis Jelen

Cole is the sole returning upperclassmen racing for us this fall and has been a consistent staple as a top runner for us during his first two XC seasons. He has been consistent in training for quite a while & should be ready to be competitive in the NSIC during our first year in the conference.
Head Coach Jarvis Jelen

UNIVERSITY OF MARY

What excites us about our men’s team this year is that we return everyone form last year and want to continue to prove to the conference that we are a threat. We have grown each year and plan to do the same this season. We have a lot of guys who are hungry for success and are definitely putting the team over individual only success.
Head Coach Chris Lessard
Gideon showed himself to be a top competitor in the cross country season in 2024 as a freshman in his first ever season in cross country. He then showed up big time in outdoor being the only male mid-distance runner to score in the 800/1500 combo. Gideon is going to be a lot more experienced and know what to expect out of the cross country season and hopefully that leads to even bigger moments.
Head Coach Chris Lessard

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA CROOKSTON

Each year since the program started in 2019, our 8k team average time has decreased. The team looks to build on that success as we are returning our top five scoring runners from last year’s squad and added five talented incomers. At the top, our two seniors Noah Revels and Connor Thoennes have great leadership qualities and lead by example. I am excited to watch the men compete and continue to reach new heights this season!
Head Coach Steven Krouse
It was great to see Noah back out on the course last year after missing the two previous seasons due to injury. Noah emerged as a frontrunner of our men’s cross country team and was our top finisher in every race he competed in. He has put in a lot of time and effort during the offseason to stay healthy and get back to his pre-injury fitness levels. He is extremely motivated and I can’t wait to see all of Noah's hard work pay off as a senior!
Head Coach Steven Krouse

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH

The Bulldog men return with a wealth of consistency this fall. I'm excited for this group as we have many talented newcomers paired with our seasoned returners who have stepped up over this last year in many different capacities. They are committed and connected to one another and I'm excited to see how our season builds this fall!
Head Coach Brette Jensen
Noah has been progressing so well over the last three years. He has been consistent with training and is a talented athlete with incredible range over many events. Noah has been instrumental in connecting our newcomers over the last year and leads by example. I am excited to see all of his hard work pay off this fall!
Head Coach Brette Jensen

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO

With a strong, experienced core of upperclassmen leading the way and a big group of talented freshmen ready to add depth and energy, there’s a real sense of excitement heading into this cross country season. The foundation is solid, the potential is high, and every run brings us one step closer to something big.
Head Coach Ben Held
Wallace will be a sophomore transfer from El Paso Community College who placed 23rd at the 2024 JUCO Cross Country Championships. With national meet experience fast times and proven toughness, he’s poised to make an immediate impact for MSU and strengthen the front end of the lineup this fall.
Head Coach Ben Held

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MOORHEAD

Our men’s team is poised for a strong 2025 campaign. With most of our 2024 roster returning and Jared Gregoire set to rejoin the lineup this fall, we’re also welcoming a talented group of freshmen and transfers ready to compete for spots in our top seven.
Head Coach Ryan Milner

MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY

I'm excited to see this group take the next step together! I saw some really good things at the end of the track season from the guys we expect to be in our top seven, now these men just need to all put it together.
Head Coach Steven Schultz
Jake has shown great consistency with his training, and put together a great summer of mileage so far. I think he has put himself in a great position to take a big step forward in his performances this fall.
Head Coach Steven Schultz

NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY

We bring back a veteran crew along with some very talented newcomers. The guys have put in a lot of work over the summer and are hungry to compete this fall. We are excited to see what this group can accomplish together.
Head Coach Lynne Dingman
Jacob is entering his final year of cross country for the Wolves. He is one of our top finishers from last season. He has improved every season and will be positioned well to make a big impact this year.
Head Coach Lynne Dingman

UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS

I have very excited about the men’s this year! We are on the younger side, which offers exciting opportunities to many athletes. We have a fun upcoming schedule and many races that we can compete well at. This men’s team is very close knit and ready to go to work every day to get one step close to their goals!
Head Coach Eric Chilson
Camden has suffered some unfortunate injuries during his first two years as a collegiate athlete. However, he has always stayed positive and continued to be a great vocal leader among our younger athletes. He has had a promising summer of training and seems to be ready for a breakout cross country season. I am excited to see all that he accomplishes this year!
Head Coach Eric Chilson

SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY

With returning experience and a nice group of newcomers, I am excited to watch their development.
Head Coach Kirk Nauman
Carter led the Mustangs in 3 out of his 5 cross country races as a freshman. With a good summer of training and another year of college racing, I think he has the opportunity to take the next step.
Head Coach Kirk Nauman

WAYNE STATE COLLEGE

We have a good blend of returning runners and a nice group of freshmen, who have had some very good experience at the high school level. It may take a few meets to get everyone to adapt to the 8k distance, but I think we have a group of runners where we could easily have a different top runner at each meet, and still have a solid group who perform well by the end of the season. Overall, I am cautiously optimistic, but our goal is to place at least in the top half of the conference.
Head Coach Marlon Brink
Ethan had a very strong freshman cross country season - placing 34th at the NSIC Championships and placing as the 8th best freshman in the conference. He made a good adjustment his first year going from running 5000 meters the year before in high school to running 8000 meters at the college level. He gained a lot of valuable experience running with WSC senior leader Quentin Dreyer last year, which I think will help him to step up and be a leader as a sophomore on the team this year.
Head Coach Marlon Brink

WINONA STATE UNIVERSITY

We have a good returning group that wants to continue to get better. This group is led by Mitchell Johnstone. He has a good supporting cast of Robbie Spain, Connor Norby, Connor Hallaway, Jacob Lanzara, and Calvin Redker. It will be interesting to see how our freshmen contribute to the team. These guys have been working hard since last spring. They are very supportive of each other and they want to be very competitive in our conference.
Head Coach John Hibshman
Mitchell loves everything about running. He is in our exercise science program and continues to learn more about training and what works for him. He has been working hard since late spring and is really motivated to be one of the top runners in our conference. I cannot say enough about his work ethic as a runner and as a student. He has made great choices to become the best he can be.
