St. Cloud State's Hallie Drossel was named the NSIC Preseason Swimmer of the Year while Augustana's Avery Lommel repeated as NSIC Preseason Diver of the Year.

The NSIC sponsored women’s swimming and diving during the 2012-13 and 2013-14 academic years with the aid of affiliated members. In 2016-17 season, NSIC Swimming and Diving returned as a seven team all NSIC sport. In 2019-20 the NSIC moved to eight participating members with the addition of Southwest Minnesota State then a nine-team league with the addition of Concordia-St. Paul in 2020-21 and now is a 10 team conference as the University of Jamestown joined for the 2025-26 academic year.

The NSIC Swimming and Diving season will get underway on Friday, September 26 with the regular season culminating at the NSIC Swimming & Diving Championship on February 11-14, 2026 at the Hulbert Aquatic Center in West Fargo, North Dakota.

What else is there to say about Avery? She’s been the NSIC diver of the meet in both her years here at Augustana. Avery is special and she’ll continue to lead our diving team to great heights. She’s really only tapped into her potential and I cannot wait to see what that looks like when she can fulfill what she’s capable of. If she’s able to do that, then the sky is the limit at the national level. I’m excited to see what she has in store this year as she looks to build off a really great end of her sophomore season. She has big goals to hit this year, and watching her reach those will be a lot of fun!

COACHES' QUOTES & ATHLETES TO WATCH

AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY

We have such great energy starting the year. We turned a lot of our roster to graduation so we will have many new faces to the conference. Change creates uncertainty, uncertainty creates opportunity, opportunity leads to growth, our growth will lead to greatness. That in itself is enough excitement to wake up each morning eager to work toward the potential with this team! With the blend of returners and new team members, we should have another banner year here come time to compete at Fargo!
Head Coach Andrew Makepeace
We have a number of women on our team who I’m really excited about and certainly are deserving for this consideration, but the one who stands out for our team is Ava! She doesn’t often get as much publicity and recognition for what she accomplishes as she deserves, but I think now she certainly has risen up to the occasion and you’ll be hearing her name a lot this year! Ava is coming off a great junior season where she made significant drops in time across all her events and truly became one of the top swimmers in the conference. She’s positioned herself to be a game changer this year! I’m very excited about the next progression in her career, which should launch her onto the national stage! Her hard work, dedication, and desire to improve motivates our team to rise to the next level.

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, ST. PAUL

This season brings us our largest team roster in school history, with 22 swimmers and six divers. We welcome 9 newcomers who look to make an immediate impact on our lineups. We have our largest senior class in program history, with seniors Silvana Jacquez and Chloe Rihon as team captains. The Golden Bears have been extremely attentive, enthusiastic, hardworking, and encouraging at practices and team events. We look forward to racing and diving against the great competition in the NSIC.
Head Coach Rachel Busch
Sophie enters her third season at CSP, coming off a strong showing at the 2025 NSIC Championships. She has shown continual improvement since joining us Fall 2023, now holding 8 school records. At the 2025 NSIC Championships, Sophie had three Top-8 and one Top-16 individual finishes, also scoring points on three A relays. Sophie also earned a B-cut in the 100 Back. We are grateful for her leadership on the team, both in and out of the pool.
Head Coach Rachel Busch
The Coaches at CSP are excited for a strong sophomore season for Chloe. With a fantastic freshman year claiming multiple top 3 finishes, a dual meet win, and a Top 8 finish at the Conference Championships, Chloe has already experienced what it takes to perform and succeed in the NSIC. Chloe developed strong fundamentals throughout last year and we are looking forward to continuing our progress with skills and dives to compete strong through her second year. Bigger dives and strong skills are sure to come as we progress in the early stages of the season, and we look forward to some top finishes with her skill set.

UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN

What excites me most about this year’s team is the energy and hunger they bring as we enter our first season in the NSIC. We’ve got a fresh group that’s eager to prove themselves and set the standard for our program moving forward. They’ve been buying into the training, supporting one another, and embracing the challenge of competing at a higher level. It’s a great mix of new faces and returning athletes who are all motivated to make waves in the conference and show that we belong here. The excitement and commitment they bring every day makes me really optimistic about what we can accomplish together this season.
Head Coach Ben Smith
Kailee has already made a huge impact in the pool. She specializes in butterfly, and what stands out most is her work ethic and how quickly she’s adjusted to the college level. Even as a first-year, she’s shown tremendous maturity in training, pushing herself and her teammates every day. She has the potential to be a difference-maker for us in both individual events and relays, and we’re excited to see her grow throughout the season. Her energy and competitiveness raise the standard for everyone around her.
Head Coach Ben Smith
Sadie is a talented and motivated diver with a strong drive to succeed. Her positive mindset and determination set her apart, and she consistently proves to be a supportive teammate. With her skill, work ethic and passion for the sport, she's an exciting athlete to watch and will only continue to grow and make an impact in the season ahead.

She is hard-working, pushes her teammates, and has a great love for the sport of swimming which makes working with her a joy! She brings a level of competitiveness in breaststroke that we are excited to see in our program and conference.

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO

We have an evenly proportioned team made up of both youth and experience. We also have balance in terms of talent and depth while being competitive in all four strokes, distance events, IM, and diving. It will be interesting to see how the team progresses throughout the fall and into the championship season. We’d love to see our team compete for a conference championship in West Fargo.
Head Coach Nathan Owens
Averi is an exciting and versatile swimmer who can compete in any event. As a freshman at the NSIC championships, she won the 200 IM with a 2:05.65, then finished 4th in the 50 Free about 12 minutes later. Her awards include individual conference champion, 5 x All-NSIC, 2 x All-American (Honorable mention). She helped qualify the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays for the NCAA Championships. We're all excited to see what she can do this year.
Head Coach Nathan Owens
Nat is one of our most powerful and explosive women, which shows up in the weight room and when she’s competing on the boards. At the conference meet, she’s been top-8 on both boards during each of her first two seasons. In addition, Nat was NCAA All-American (honorable mention) on 1-meter her freshman year. Nat has shown steady improvement throughout her first two seasons and is someone who we think can take another step during her junior year.

We are coming into this year with a strong and close-knit team. From the start of everyone arriving to campus we can tell this team will be special and build well together. They are supportive from the weight room to the pool working. We've added depth and speed to our program this year, along with a great deal of determination and spirit. We have a great class of incoming freshmen and a solid core of upperclassmen to lead the way. Speaking with our coaches, captains and community members, we are all excited for what our Wolves will accomplish this year. Go Wolves!

We are excited to have her join the Pack and contribute to Northern’s success.
