BURNSVILLE, Minn. - Augustana University was again selected in the NSIC Preseason Women's Tennis Coaches’ Poll to win the NSIC. The Vikings are the 15-time defending NSIC Champions,  have won 169 consecutive NSIC regular season matches and have been picked to win the league every year since the preseason poll's inception in 2018.

The Vikings amassed 100 points with all 10 first place votes after going 18-5 and 9-0 in the NSIC in 2025, while advancing to the NCAA National Championships for the second time in program history. Minnesota State was selected second with 84 points.  Sioux Falls was third with 81 points and the other first place vote (coaches cannot vote for their own team) while the University of Mary was fourth with 61 points.

The preseason coaches’ poll is based off each coach ranking each team with the top team receiving 10 points, second 9, third 8, etc.

The 2026 NSIC Women's Tennis season gets underway on Saturday, January 31. The 2026 NSIC Women's Tennis Tournament will consist of the top six teams in the final NSIC standings competing in a single elimination format on April 24-26 at Huether Family Match Pointe in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.  Again this season, with the six-team format, the top two teams in the final standings will receive a first round bye in the NSIC Tournament.

Luz has been a staple on our team for a few years now. She continues to set the tone for what Dragon Tennis should be. A fantastic leader on and off the court, she gives the rest of the team someone to look up to and that is invaluable. As her coach, I expect another fantastic year from Luz because I know that's what she expects from herself.

AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY

I'm excited about this years team as we have many strong girls returning from last year and we added two strong Senior transfers who will provide more depth for us. We had a good Fall and the girls are pushing each other in practice and it's making everyone stronger. We can't wait to get the season going!
Head Coach Marc Kurtz
Maria is a senior transfer this year with good collegiate experience. She is an excellent athlete and works extremely hard in practice and the weight room. Maria had an excellent fall season and showed her potential. Maria has a very high ceiling and she is continuing to improve everyday. We are excited to see what she can do this year!

BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY

What excites me most about this team is the combination of talent, work ethic, and cultural buy-in. We have a group that is hungry to improve, competitive in practice, and genuinely supportive of one another. There’s a strong balance between experienced players who set the tone and younger players who bring energy and upside.
Head Coach Kyle Fodness
Mia has consistently shown a strong sense of competitiveness and continued development. She brings a great work ethic to practice and competes with confidence in matches, which allows her to handle pressure well. As she continues to refine her game and gain experience, will continue to make a positive impact on the team.

UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN

What excites me most about this year’s team is every player has embraced the challenge of building something from the ground up. They bring energy and daily competitiveness to our environment every day. There is a strong belief within this group that we are going to grow together and set the bar high.
Head Coach Cam Jackson
Julie brings a mature and competitive personality that is well beyond her freshman year. She's an extremely coachable player who embraces the hard work on the court and in the classroom. In our inaugural season with such a young roster, Julie approaches every single day with confidence that leads the way in establishing our programs identity.
Head Coach Cam Jackson

UNIVERSITY OF MARY

The Marauders have a lot of new faces heading into the 2026 season, including five freshmen. This young group hasn't let their inexperience stop them from competing with intensity, building strong team connections, and developing their games, however. I'm excited to see how they fare in the NSIC this year while we strive to build a solid foundation for our program for years to come.
Head Coach Erik Porter
Anna is entering her sophomore campaign as Mary's lone returning all-conference selection. She brings leadership, poise, and maturity to our team and plays with fierce, quiet competitiveness on the court. She's a great example of what it means to be a scholar-athlete at the University of Mary.
Head Coach Erik Porter

This team has a great mix of upperclassmen and underclassmen who are very motivated. Our experience will be an important asset for us. This team loves to compete and are very excited to start the season.

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH

I am beyond thrilled to be back on court with the Bulldogs this year. This team brings so much energy and excitement, starting with our three fabulous freshmen who have already added another level of depth and competitiveness to our lineup. The group as a whole is truly special—these players work incredibly hard, are committed to getting better every day, and at the same time bring fun, positive personalities that make it a joy to be around. Being on court with this team is the best part of my day, and I’m excited to see what we can accomplish together this season.
Head Coach Jessica Worden
Carly is the definition of a leader and a competitor. As a senior captain, the growth in her game over the past three seasons has been exponential—not just in her strokes, but in her mindset, confidence, and determination. She brings a level of intensity and composure that elevates everyone around her. We’re excited to watch Carly lead this team this season, both on the court with her play and off the court.

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO

The variety of collegiate experience on our team has been an exciting element of Minnesota State Tennis this year. Over half of our team is new to our program. However, the returning athletes we have are all seniors who have been with us since their freshmen season. Our seniors are ambitious to finish their college tennis careers off strongly, and our freshmen are eager for their first season of collegiate athletics to get underway. Despite the differences in our athletes’ collegiate experience, they have worked extremely well together, and I can’t wait for them to bring this motivation to their matches this spring.
Head Coach Drew Hawthorne
McKenna has shown tremendous growth as an athlete throughout her time as a Maverick. On the court, she began playing at the bottom of our lineup in her freshman year, but now she plays a leading position on our team. Her work ethic is unmatched, and she operates in a way that is not only driven, but also courteous. She excels academically, as proven by her receiving the NSIC Elite 18 Award last season for her stellar performance in the classroom. As our team captain this year and last year, I am very proud of how McKenna continues to challenge herself and our team to achieve tough goals, and she will certainly be a player to keep an eye out for throughout the season.
Head Coach Drew Hawthorne

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MOORHEAD

As I undergo my first season as head coach, I am excited to see the drive and the hunger of this team. We have great internal competition, and we know as a team that is what will make us stronger. Pairing that with the versatility and chemistry of this roster, it should be a great season.
Head Coach Damien O'Donnell
Luz has been a staple on our team for a few years now. She continues to set the tone for what Dragon Tennis should be. A fantastic leader on and off the court, she gives the rest of the team someone to look up to and that is invaluable. As her coach, I expect another fantastic year from Luz because I know that's what she expects from herself.

This years team is loaded with experience with all retuning players in the line-up. Plus the addition of a strong incoming freshman class which will give us much depth to compete at our best in the upcoming season.

Ella has been a positive role model not only on the courts ,but also as a team member for the past four years. Her desire to compete at the highest level and never stop playing has been a huge factor in the continued success of our tennis program. Plus she is part of the most successful No. 2 doubles team at USF in recent history. She truly leads by example.

WINONA STATE UNIVERSITY

There’s a lot to be excited about with this year’s team. Even as we graduate two seniors who made a tremendous impact on the program, the returning group has shown they’re ready to continue competing at a high level. The depth, work ethic, and competitiveness across the lineup give us every reason to believe we can build on from last season. What really stands out is the positive energy this group brings every day. They support each other, push each other, and they’re committed to creating a team culture that’s both competitive and uplifting. That combination sets the tone for a strong and exciting season ahead.
Head Coach Xao Vang
Clara delivered a standout season for the program, emerging as one of its most reliable and impactful competitors. Anchoring the No. 3 singles position, Thoemke closed the year with an impressive 9–5 record, demonstrating the consistency, resilience, and competitive fire that helped elevate the team throughout the campaign. Her performance and dedication were recognized by the conference and beyond. In 2025, Thoemke earned NSIC Second Team All-Conference Singles, CSC Academic All-District, and NSIC All-Academic Team of Excellence, underscoring her excellence both on the court and in the classroom.
