  • Named NSIC North Division Preseason Player of the Year for the second season in a row

His poise & maturity leads our team and his ability to score the ball in many different ways will be something we rely on in NSIC play.

Wyatt has been a steady presence for our program the past three years. Like many of our recruits, he was relatively unheralded coming out of White Bear Lake. Yet, he got to work, bought in to what was asked of him, and has turned himself into an exceptional NSIC player. His year to year growth has been a joy to watch, and he has elevated the SCSU basketball program during his time here. He is a great player, a great teammate and a joy to coach. I am excited to see what he does in his senior season. He has been heavily invested in our program and has forged strong relationships in the process. Once hoops is over, I know he’ll have a tremendously positive impact on whatever community is fortunate enough to have him.

NSIC Players to Watch & Coaches' Quotes

AUGUSTANA UNIVERSITY

I am excited about our newness and versatility. We have a healthy amount of returners back but also mixed in eight new players through freshmen and transfers. Having Bennett Fried, Markus Talley, Amari Westmoreland, Conner Kraft and Jack Hastreiter returning with NSIC experience, along with four talented transfers allows us to stay old and compete in a loaded and extremely talented NSIC.
Head Coach Cody Schilling
Over the past two years Bennett has started 39 games for us here at Augustana. He has totaled 461 points, 249 rebounds and shot 61.6% from the field. Bennett scored in double figures 12 times in '25-26 including a season high 20 points and 12 rebounds vs St Cloud State. We look for Bennett to take a major step on both ends of the floor this season.
Head Coach Cody Schilling

BEMIDJI STATE UNIVERSITY

We return eight players from last year's team and have added a talented group of newcomers who should provide increased depth and strengthen us across the board. The versatility our players have demonstrated so far has been very encouraging, and we're excited about the different possibilities this group presents.
Head Coach Mike Boschee
Johnny is a great shooter with deep range and can score in a variety of ways. He's a returning first team All-Conference player that set the record for three pointers made in a season.
Head Coach Mike Boschee

CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY, ST. PAUL

This team will be a lot of fun to watch. We have more size, athletic ability, and depth than we ever have. We return 14 guys from last years 19 win team and added a few key pieces to the mix. I feel like we will have a chance to win every night we take the floor. We will look and play a little bit different than we have the past couple years, and that has been a lot of fun to watch them grow and play this way together. They play their tails off.
Head Coach Matt Fletcher
Owen is a phenomenal player, leader, and has emerged as one of the best guards in this conference. He works hard every day to get better, his jump shot is one of the best in the league, and he is a crazy athlete. I am very excited to see him take over for us as a "go to" guy and help us every night.
Head Coach Matt Fletcher

UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN

I am very excited about our group for this season. We have 10 returners from last year who all have NSIC experience and a good mix of new players that are fitting in well. This year's team has length, athleticism, and depth and we are looking forward to competing in November.
Head Coach Bryan Beamish
Alijah has been a pleasure to coach and we are excited about his senior year. The impact he has on both ends of the floor combined with his work ethic will help us tremendously. Alijah has shown great leadership throughout preseason and he is someone this team will rely on to lead the way.
Head Coach Bryan Beamish

UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA DULUTH

After a great run with an NSIC Tournament Championship, 2 NCAA Tournament wins & our 5th straight 20-win season, returning several key pieces is a great place to start. I'm excited to see our young guys take that next step. They have developed, embraced our culture and are ready to break out into new roles. An exciting true freshman class & a high level transfer also has a great chance to make an impact from Day 1. The NSIC will be a challenge as always and we hope to be in the mix in February.
Head Coach Justin Wieck

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY, MANKATO

What excites me most about this year’s team is the way they’re coming together. We have a group that genuinely enjoys being around each other, is hungry to get better, and understands that we are building habits every single day to be successful. We have a talent, but what really excites me is our chemistry, our competitiveness, and our willingness to work.
Head Coach Matt Margenthaler
Ahrman has put together a really impressive preseason. He's playing with such confidence, he's more consistent and has shown a great understanding of what we need from him on both ends of the floor. He has the ability to impact the game in a lot of different ways, and his experience and leadership are going to be very important to us this season.
Head Coach Matt Margenthaler

MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MOORHEAD

We have a very tall roster positionally. Our size and skill will provide great advantages for us on both ends. We have very few players with one year on our roster, so there is more stability in our program and we can improve through development.
Head Coach Jason Kemp
Isa , former State Champion at Minnetonka High School, had a phenomenal freshman year for us in 25-26. His leadership and production were evident as he earned all-conference recognition. What goes unnoticed is the type of leader he grew to become throughout the year. His loyalty to our programs is clear, and I am excited to see him continue to grow in year two.
Head Coach Jason Kemp

MINOT STATE UNIVERSITY

Our locker room is really good. Our work ethic is exciting to watch. We have some depth, we have some versatility, can play big, can play small. We’ll see what happens.
Head Coach Randall Herbst
Sean is a versatile, long athlete that can play multiple positions. He impacts the game on both ends of the floor. He had a great start last year, then had a season ending injury. He is coming back with a drive and passion for success.
Head Coach Randall Herbst

NORTHERN STATE UNIVERSITY

We have a great group of people to work with daily that want to win and get better. They have good energy on the court and we are hopeful that we have a group that will work to improve throughout the season to give us a chance. Again this year, we have a lot of new faces that will be competing for minutes but return a handful from last year that need to lead the way for the newcomers.
Head Coach Matt Wilber
Josh returns as a second team all-conference player from last season. He is our leader on the floor and in the locker room and we are hopeful that he continues to improve in both areas for us.
Head Coach Matt Wilber

University of Sioux Falls

I am excited about this years team for many reasons, continuity, depth, and experience being the main reasons. We return 8 starters/rotation players from last season. We played our best basketball last year in the second half and think we can build on that because of our continuity and experience. We also believe that we have really nice depth this season.
Head Coach Chris Johnson
Taylen has been an important part of our team since he walked on campus. He's a great leader, has a great work ethic and his teammates love him. He's tough and can play multiple positions for us. I believe he's the leading returning scorer in the league or at least one of the top 2-3 at worst. We will count on Taylen to take another step this year, which I have no doubt he will. We believe he's one of the best players in the NSIC.
Head Coach Chris Johnson

Southwest Minnesota State University

We are excited about this year's team and the experience and versatility we have returning throughout our lineup. We have a group of guys who have played a lot of meaningful basketball in our program, and we believe the competition within our team will help us continue to improve. We also understand how challenging the NSIC is every night, and we have tremendous respect for the players and coaches throughout our league. I'm excited to watch the growth of Micah (Schlaak) and Brayson (Boike). You can see their confidence is different this fall. Getting Steven (Kramer) back from injury has provided a unique match up at the shooting guard spot. Lots of work to put in.
Head Coach Brad Bigler
Aeron has been a consistent and important part of our program throughout his career and brings a great deal of experience to our team. He is a versatile player who can score in a variety of ways, rebound, and create matchup problems with his size and skill level. Aeron has continued to expand his game each year, and we are excited about the versatility he can provide our team this season. Most importantly, he is a great teammate, has been successful in the classroom, and understands what it takes to compete at a high level in the NSIC.
Head Coach Brad Bigler

St. Cloud State University

I am excited about the growth potential of this team. This is the most tenured group our staff has had at SCSU and we’ve enjoyed every minute of working with these guys. The 11 returners have meshed well with our incoming 5 and preseason workouts have been competitive. I’m not entirely sure what the final result will look like, but I know this group will played inspired basketball. The NSIC looks to be incredibly competitive yet again which should make for some high-level basketball night in and night out. Although fans will have to pony up for that Midco livestream, I think the investment will be well worth it.

Very excited about the quality depth and positional size that we have on our roster this season. We have a good group of returners who are ready to take the next step and a recruiting class that has addressed our most significant needs. I really enjoy coaching this group. We have good leadership, unselfish players and a group that comes ready to compete every day.
Head Coach Jeff Kaminsky
Matt is a two-time NSIC All-Conference selection. Matt has really focused on improving those areas that will help impact winning. I am excited to see his progress and the opportunity he has to be one of the elite players in the NSIC.
Head Coach Jeff Kaminsky

Winona State University

The positive from a tough season last year was with all the injuries on our team, we played a lot of younger players who gained valuable experience. When Gavyn Hurley was healthy, we started three sophomores and two freshmen. I am excited to see those players' growth in this season, add Luke to the mix & get back a couple players who missed last season due to injury.
Head Coach Todd Eisner
I am excited to have Luke back in our program. He had an outstanding 2024-25 season for us. Hopeful that he will bring the same level of toughness, competitiveness and production to our team that he did his first season.
