NSIC Elite 18 Award

BURNSVILLE, Minn. — The University of Sioux Falls Jacoby Mehrman has been announced as the 2025 NSIC Elite 18 Award winner for men’s basketball, recognized for holding the highest grade point average with the most credits earned among the eight teams advancing to NSIC Tournament quarterfinal play. Mehrman was presented the award during the pregame of the Sioux Falls quarterfinal game at the NSIC Men’s Basketball Tournament, taking place at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
 
As part of the NSIC 25th Anniversary celebration during the 2016-17 academic year, the NSIC Elite 18 Award was created to recognize the true essence of the student-athlete by honoring individuals who have reached the pinnacle of competition at the NSIC Championship level in their sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among their peers. The NSIC Elite 18 Award is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average participating at the finals site for each of the NSIC’s 18 championships.
 
Mehrman, a sophomore from Harrisburg, South Dakota, holds a 4.00 cumulative grade-point average while majoring in business administration.

Mehrman has started 17 of 29 games during the 2025-26 season, averaging 28.7 minutes per contest. He shot 58.0 percent (87-for-150) from the field and totaled 233 points for an 8.0 points-per-game average. He added 132 rebounds (4.6 per game), 69 assists (2.4 per game), 40 steals and nine blocks, while shooting 74.6 percent (53-for-71) from the free-throw line.
