Minnesota State wins sixth straight NSIC Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championship

MANKATO, Minn. – Minnesota State University, Mankato made it six straight NSIC Indoor Track & Field Championships as the Mavericks amassed 216.33 points to win by 105.33 points over second place University of Mary. This marks the ninth indoor women’s championship for the Mavericks.  The University of Mary scored 111 points while Winona State was third with 76.0 points. One record was set during this year’s championship.

The University of Mary’s Kristine Kalthoff earned high point performer as she amassed 30.5 points at the championship after winning the 3000m and mile runs and finished second in the 5000m run. She was also part of the first-place distance medley relay team.  
 
Minnesota State's Miranda Lauvstad, who finished with 30 points at the championship, had a record-breaking performance in the long jump on Friday as she leapt 20-10 (6.35m) to surpass MSU's Mckayla Jackson's mark of 20-4.5 (6.21m) from 2023.
 
The top three finishers in each event and the top three relay teams are named to the NSIC Indoor Track & Field All-Conference team. NSIC Indoor Track & Field Athletes and Coaches of the Year will be announced next week at NorthernSun.org.
 
The NCAA National Championships will take place on March 13-15 at Virginia Beach Sports Center in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The field of student-athletes participating will be announced on Tuesday, March 3.
