Rochester, Minn. –  The 2013 NSIC / Sanford Health Men’s & Women’s Basketball Tournament Semifinals and Championships are set to take place this Fri.-Sat., March 8-9 at Taylor Arena in Rochester, Minn. 

The NSIC will have four women’s teams and four men’s teams participate in the championship with semifinal action starting on Friday at noon.

Women’s teams competing will be the south division fourth seed of Winona State verus  the south division second seed Minnesota State University, Mankato at noon.  The second women’s semifinal will have the NSIC Overall and South Division Champions of Concordia University, St. Paul taking on the south division third seed, Augustana College at 5 p.m.

On the men’s side the south division fourth seed Upper Iowa University will take on the north division three seed in Bemidji State University at 2:30 p.m.  And in the nightcap the NSIC Overall and South Division Champions of Minnesota State University, Mankato will take on south division third seed Augustana College.

Winners will play in the NSIC/Sanford Health Championship games on Saturday at 3 p.m. (women) and 5:30 p.m. (men) at Taylor Arena.

NSIC Basketball Tournament Seeding Tie-Breakers
The tie-breaking criteria for seeding into the NSIC/ Sanford Post- Season Tournament will be as follows. (Note: The formula will be used to break one tie at a time. Once a team is seeded via the following tie-breaker, the formula will repeat itself from the beginning to determine any additional seeding for the tournament due to ties in the divisional standings. The formula will be used to break the highest-seeded tie first according to the divisional standings).

1.    Head to head
2.    Use the divisional won/loss percentage
3.    Head to head competition of descending divisional teams (won/        loss record against teams who finished highest in standings)
4.    Point rating system – divisional games only
