WAYNE, Neb. – Bemidji State University was announced the winner of the NSIC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup, presented by ISG. BSU SAAC was presented the award during the joint dinner of student-athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors at the NSIC SAAC Summit, which is taking place Sunday-Tuesday on the campus of Wayne State College. 

The NSIC SAAC Cup, a traveling trophy, is awarded annually at the NSIC SAAC Summit. Institutions receive points throughout the year based on the criteria within the categories below. The winner is the institutional SAAC with the most points accumulated during the academic year (September 1-May 1). The points must be achieved in each category to be eligible to win the NSIC SAAC Cup.

Bemidji State scored  25,429 points to finish 179 points ahead of second place, and last year's winner, Minnesota State University Moorhead (25,250).

Campus SAAC Meetings: Receive 100 points for campus SAAC meetings (max of 2/month). Receive an additional 50 points per meeting for engaging campus/community leaders.
SAAC Legislative Grid: Receive 250 points for completing/returning on time. Receive an additional 250 points for meeting with President/Chancellor AND FAR to review proposed legislation.
NSIC SAAC Initiatives: Receive 500 points for NSIC SAAC organized initiatives (Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, Mental Health Awareness/Green Bandana Project, It's a Slam Dunk-Don't Drive Drunk, Life After College).

MOORHEAD, Minn. – Minnesota State University Moorhead was announced the winner of the NSIC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup, presented by ISG. MSU Moorhead SAAC members were presented the award during the joint dinner of student-athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors at the NSIC SAAC Summit. The NSIC SAAC Summit is taking place Sunday-Tuesday on the campus of MSU Moorhead. 

The NSIC SAAC Cup, a traveling trophy, is awarded annually at the NSIC SAAC Summit. Institutions receive points throughout the year based on the criteria within the categories below. The winner is the institutional SAAC with the most points accumulated during the academic year (September 1-May 1). The points must be achieved in each category to be eligible to win the NSIC SAAC Cup.

MSU Moorhead, which finished second a year ago, scored 17,428 points to finish 1,010 points ahead of second place, and last year's winner, Wayne State (16, 418).

Wayne State, which also won the award in 2018-19, scored 21,107 points and finished 4,120 points ahead of second place, MSU Moorhead (16,987). Last year's winner, Minnesota Duluth, finished third with 12,406 points.

WINONA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Duluth was announced the winner of the NSIC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup, presented by ISG.  UMD was presented the award during the joint dinner of student-athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors at the NSIC SAAC Summit. The NSIC SAAC Summit is taking place Sunday-Tuesday on the campus of Winona State University.

Minnesota Duluth, which also won the inaugural award in 2017-18, scored 18,774 points, finished 5,541 points ahead of second place, Wayne State (13,233). Highlights of UMD's year included winning the 2022 NCAA Division II Award of Excellence for the Green Bandana Project and Mental Health Awareness Games. Minnesota Duluth student-athletes worked together to break the stigma surrounding mental health, supporting those struggling with mental illness and suicidal thoughts, and spreading mental health resources. Mental health advocates display a green bandana on their bookbag to show support to anyone feeling impacted by mental health.

ABERDEEN, S.D. – Wayne State College was the winner of the second annual NSIC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup. WSC was presented the award during the joint meeting of student-athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors at the NSIC SAAC Summit. The NSIC SAAC Summit is taking place Monday-Wednesday on the campus of Northern State University.

Wayne State, which finished in second place in last year's standings, scored 9056 points, defeating second place St. Cloud State (8955) by 101 points and third place UMD (7750) by 1306 points. Highlights of WSC’s year included raising nearly $4000 for Make-A-Wish, their highest total ever and not only participating in all three NSIC SAAC initiatives, but also doing seven other campus/community events throughout the year.

WINONA, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Duluth was the winner of the inaugural NSIC Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Cup.  UMD was presented the award during the joint meeting of student-athletes and the NSIC Board of Directors at the NSIC SAAC Summit. The NSIC SAAC Summit is taking place Monday-Wednesday on the campus of Winona State University.
 
UMD scored 7180 points, defeating second place Wayne State (7018) by 162 points and third place St. Cloud (7000) by 180 points. Highlights of UMD’s year included raising $3,379 for Make-A-Wish, participating in all three NSIC SAAC Initiatives, engaging their campus community in their regular SAAC meetings and holding a meeting with Chancellor Lynn Black to discuss proposed NCAA legislation.

Make-A-Wish Participation.  Receive ½ point for every dollar raised up to $1,499 and 1 point for every dollar raised thereafter ($1,500 and up) for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  Funds shall be donated to the NCAA national office or local chapter via the required forms.

NSIC SAAC Meetings.  Receive 250 points for each attendee (a maximum of three) at NSIC SAAC Summit.   Receive 50 points for each participant (maximum of three) on SAAC conference calls. 

Campus SAAC Meetings.  Receive 100 points for campus SAAC meetings (a maximum of two per month).  A formal agenda and/or minutes from each meeting should be kept on file with the SAAC advisor.  Receive 50 additional points per meeting for engaging campus and/or community leaders.

SAAC Legislative Grid.  Receive 250 points for completing the NCAA SAAC Legislative Grid and returning it to the NSIC Division II National SAAC representative by the required due date.  Receive 250 additional points for meeting with institution President/Chancellor AND Faculty Athletic Representative to review proposed legislation.

NSIC SAAC Initiatives.  Receive 500 points for NSIC SAAC organized initiatives.  Initiatives include: Mental Health Awareness, It’s A Slam Dunk- Don’t Drive Drunk and It’s on Us.  A description of all events and a list of participants should be kept on file with the campus SAAC advisor.

Other Community Service/Engagement Projects.  Receive 250 points for SAAC-organized community service/engagement projects that occur during the academic year.  A description of all events and a list of participants should be kept on file with the campus SAAC advisor.
