Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference

Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Commissioner Erin Lind announced the hiring of Chad Eischens as the league’s Coordinator of Baseball Umpires on September 14, 2020.

His responsibilities will include conducting mandatory annual rules/mechanics clinics and meetings for the umpires; serve as a liaison between the NSIC and umpires; develop and implement an approved umpire rating system; assign umpires to NSIC member institutions; recruit and select qualified umpires for the NSIC pool of umpires; and participate in all reviews of umpires conducted by NSIC administrative personnel.

Eischens’ umpiring career spans over 20 years, which includes numerous post-season assignments at all levels of the NCAA and includes 10 NSIC Tournaments.  He has also served as a long-time board member and is now President of the Northwest Association of Umpires (NAU).  During his time with the NAU he led the organization in developing contracts, in-person and online meetings and trainings, expansion of coverage areas and recruitment of officials. 

Eischens graduated from St. Cloud State University with a degree in Physical Education.  He then attended Minnesota State University, Mankato earned a M.S. in Educational Leadership and a Specialist Degree in K-12 Principal Licensure & Community Education.  He currently works for the city of Edina as the General Manager of Braemar Arena & Field.
